06 Shifter Question

I am confused about something. I have read that the 05-07 shifters are 12mm. I have also read that many previous years are also 12mm and yet I see 05-07 shifters advertised seperately from 04 and older.

Will any 12mm shifter fir an 06 GT? I am looking for a taller shifter than stock and I am noit ready to do a full blown short throw setup. I was looking at Momo because they have a couple of tall shifters. Has anyone installed a Momo shifter and if so how is the quality of the fit?

The shifter itself is completly different in the 05 and newer than it was in the 04 and older. If you are talking about the shift ****, the thread size is 12 x 1.75 mm on the 05 and newer. I don't know about the 04 and older.
I am not sure what part you are talking about exactly as the shifter and **** are different parts that people modify.
Hope this helps out.

Actually it's 12Mx1.25 for 05+. The 12Mx1.75 is for 94-04

NO sweat I'll add that a 1/2-20 thread will also work, but won't be an exact fit. Just a tad sloppy, and I mean barely.

Are you saying the actual threads are 12mm tall and 1.25mm in diameter?

I also guess I should have been more specific in my question...I'm interested in a taller shift **** at this time until I can fit a shifter assembly into the budget. The local Ford Parts guy said Roush is coming out with an 05-07 short-throw shifter which will be angled rearward a little.

A taller shift **** on the stocker will make the shift action even longer.
Row, row, row your boat...
