Winter Mods In Time for the GTA's First Car Show
Winter Mods In Time for the GTA's First Car Show
A few winter mods done up in the garage, just in time for the Toronto Performance World show this past weekend, which was my first show ever.
1) New CDC black billett grill, customized with a chrome surround to mimic the grills from the 60's. The running pony is from 1969.
2) Roush strut tower brace, over top of the supercharger.
3) A GT500 spoiler (can't beat OEM quality), the tape on the 3dCarbon one was coming off and driving me nuts.
4) Shelby Vintage Torque Thrusts, 20x10 R and 20x8.5 F with Bridgestone Potenza RE960 A/S's 285/30/20 R and 255/35/20 F (still have the 18" KDW's for road course stuff).
5) A GT500 steering wheel (oops, an Interior Mod, sorry)
Very special thanks to Kim Rieck at CDC who indulged my fantasies while I was at NAIAS in January. I went to visit CDC one day and she was just great. Came home with a whole carload of stuff and will be putting it on piece by piece as the weather gets better.
Extra special thanks of course to KC who supplied the GT500 stuff. I'd also ordered some CS 67 Shelby wheels (also 20") but after mounting them on the car, they just didn't look as fantastic as they did on a few other cars on TMS. KC - I'll find a good home for them, don't worry. In the end I went with what I've been eyeing at The Tire Rack for the past year, the anthracite Shelby Vintage Torque Thrusts by American Racing. Fantastic quality, perfect fit and perfect look for the GTA in my opinion. Can't beat an old classic I guess.
So here's a few pics of the GTA after she got home from Toronto - with a Best in Class which made me sorta proud. A couple more things are on the way, didn't make it in time for the show:
From that great guy Marcello, a set of Silverhorse Racing louvers, just being painted now. And from CR at Tillman, another great guy, a Speed of Sound gauge pod (triple) that'll be housing my boost, intercooler water temp and auto trans temp.
Then of course there's those 3:73 gears, the TCI Converter and the new Roush pulley that's coming out this year. These are just "thoughts" mind you.
The highlight of doing all of these winter mods was dealing with the people that sell them; KC, Kim, Marcello and CR. Either in person or over the phone, they were nicest, most helpful and knowledgeable Mustang people I've dealt with. Thanks guys!!
That's it for now - Mark

Made it myself Leo. It's that 3M-backed chrome trim you can buy at any auto store. I did the same thing to my stock grill and it stood up just nicely. Thought this grill deserved the same touch.
Here's a pic a bit closer, taken at the show. The U-shape is one piece of the chrome trim, it follows the outside profile of the CDC grill and sticks to the bumper fascia. I made it take an aggressive 90 degree turn at the top of the fascia (opposite the headlights) and it's trimmed off nicely at the bulkhead. These 2 bends will be covered shortly with the Midwest Auto Gear radiator cover extensions (forgot to mention that they were ordered (in color) but didn't make it in time for the show. The top chrome piece is attached to the topmost horizontal slat on the grill. The ends were trimmed to meet up with the side piping just about perfectly. Everyone who looked at it (up close) thought it was one piece.
Hope that helps.

Wow that's low. I've got FRPP springs and with my CDC lip I've got a hair under 6". I really like the Roush fascia with aggressive lip, but that would be low for a daily driver. I'd assume that you lose another .5" with the lip.
I got to see Mark's car in person at the Performance World show in Toronto and was absolutely stunned on how good it looks.
I wonder what will happen first, me finding a decent woman, or Mark telling us that he is done modifying his car.

hahahah
Way to go Mr Best-in-Class
I think Marks custom title should be something like:
"I go through Rims like hookers go through men"

And Galaxie... Mark will make a mod before you get your next 'oil change'

And Pete buddy....this set is THE LAST SET. Unlike Imelda and her shoes, I can't keep going at this pace. Of course you realize these rims are YOUR fault.....but I'm finally satisfied so it's O.K.
MY Fault?!?!?
Everything is my fault!! Just like the Roushcharger....hahaha
Why because I got a set of stunning Bullitts
I gotta admit, those 20s look mighty nice... but they aren't black chrome

ok I love your car and the wheels are to die for... I haven't seen those before and I really want them now. How much did you pay for them? Is there anwhere that I could get them at a discount at all? Thanks for the advice!
