who has centercaps from american muscle?
So i have gt4 wheels and want the tribar pony centercaps. I got some from ebay but they dont fit quite right. The prongs are too short. Are the caps from AM like this too? Are the prongs on their running pony caps shorter than than the prongs on the flaming M caps? The caps I got dont sit flush with the wheel, they are inset a little and spin freely.

Jason I did not mean to make it sound out of my way. I'll be happy to do it. I just need to do it Saturday morning. Its not a burden, I'll be happy to help you out so you get the right information for your car. I think you would do the same. Don't worry about it.

Thanks 2k7gtcs.
See the difference in prong length between the ebay caps on the left and the M caps that came with the wheels on the right.

Sorry it took so long. As you can see both the AM flaming M center caps and AM tribar pony center caps are identical in radius and in depth. Once again sorry it took so long we went out of town Saturday and of course yesterday was father's day. Hope this helps.

Those M caps that you have are different than the ones that came in my wheels. But here is a post from an AM rep.
"Hmm the center caps we have are a different Ford part number and they look different then the ones you have. They still have the shorter prongs, but the emblem is very thick on them compared to the ones you have making them sit flush in the wheels. When compared next to each other, they actually have the same standing height as the M-Fire caps. I test fit one and it fits perfectly and locks in fine. I can rotate it in the wheel by hand however so it does not sit as snug in the opening as the M-Fire cap, it is definitely locked into the wheel though and it shouldn't rotate freely while the car is moving or anything like that. Check out the pictures. The caps we have will definitely fit better in our wheels and sit flushly with the wheel."

Thats weird. Those M caps came from Amrican Muscle about late December 2007. I guess they've changed suppliers or something. The tribar pony cap came at the same time. I did notice that I could spin the tribar on the wheel with my hand although it didn't spin freely. It was snug, but not over tight. I did notice that the wheelpaint was damaged. I took the wheels and caps to Discount Tire to have tires put on in January and evidently the darn installer used a bare screwdriver to pry out the old centercaps and dangit it scraped off the black paint on the edge of the wheel where he did it. Dangit! I should have pulled those caps myself and put the new ones on and then taken it. Why didn't I do that?
