where can I get a CDC shaker installed
Hey guys and gals, looks like my lady will let me spend the money on the CDC shaker (x-mas present to myself) Was wondering if anyone knew a place that can do this in the NY/NJ area. I live in Staten Island if that helps. And mods, please dont move this to the northeast section since I know this section gets alot more traffic.
Why not do it yourself? It builds character! hehe
Got to agree on that one. "If you don't build it, you don't own it".
Besides, where's your sense of adventure. Scared the heck out of me when I did it to my 99 GT. Must have measured that cut 15 times, then still shuttered as I started the cut. It looked horrific as I started, but it was well worth it after all done. Very very gratifying realizing I could actually do it.

Jason... if you do decide to do it yourself, read through this (especially beginning around post #16):

Would love to build it myself, but where I live, I dont have the tools or place to do it. I definately have read your write up as well and it is a great source of info. But thanks for all your info.
They're not all that difficult to install if you notch the engine cover a little to gain access to the two nuts that hold the cover to the top of the throttle-body.
It would take a drill with a 3/8 - 1/2" bit, Pop-rivet tool with a 1/8" mandrel, jig-saw and a couple (1 for a spare) Bi-Metal blades for cutting the aluminum hood. There are a couple of spotts where you will be cutting through a double panel. Just go real slow when doing the cutting. Mask everything off well and throw a blanket over the motor to catch all the aluminum dust. I laid a 2x4 across the top of the radiator to keep the hood from closing all the way and give me a little more blade clearance when cutting.
The key here is to move slow and measure carefully. You can do it yourself and be proud of the outcome.

I'm out in Nassau, and my local shop is installing the shaker assembly on my GT. One thing though, I got the kit and hood from Fang Performance, so, they are painting the hood as well. My shaker installs by using brackets installed on the four fuel rail bolts ( already on the engine, they are the ones with a wire harness clipped to the top...).The shop I'm using isn't cheap, but they practiaclly read my mind with everything I wanted done ( stripes, clear coat etc...).
No pictures yet, as it's not finished yet.

I got the car back tonight, and I am a happy guy ! The car looks like it should have come that way from Ford...I basically copied the same paint stripe ( 70 Mach One ?) as the car on the Fang website. My car is also black, and I had the stripe painted the same siver/gray as the bullit rims.
I used Penn Collision, on Atlantic Ave in Baldwin. They even insisted on installing the actual shaker unit( I had intended to do it myself, but why argue when someone makes your life easier ?). They were recommended by my buddy, who had his AC Cobra replica painted there. My buddy's a perfectionist in every sense of the word, and if they can please him, they gotta be good. They had the hood for two weeks, and the car for one. I'll try to snap pictures this weekend, but it's going to look like the Fang car ( minus the hood locks which I didn't want). The hood looks like a steel hood, with none of the wavy fiberglass texture to it, even the shop complimented its construction, and asked who made it. A lot of labor though, painting, striping , and clear coating don't come cheap.
Dan" bread and water for a month"G.

I'll take pictures this weekend, but I have to download/edit them on my work PC.
Pics of my car to arrive on Monday ! I found a link to the Fang webpage, showing the same hood/shaker/black w/silver paint job that I used on my car.
