wheels!

Thinking about getting some wheels for my '06 vista blue stang. I want something a little different and I know I want a staggered setup. Thinking about some J Line 6RL2 wheels. They are pricey though... it would be in a 20x10 and 20x8.5 but I have NO CLUE how to figure out what offset and all I want? Thats what I need help with! So does anyone have custom wheels? I want a deep lip I do know that...(in the back and like a 2inch or so up front)
What do you think?

of course I don't want gold...thinking silver for the face.

Welcome to the site musshoss!

For the 20x10's, I would look at the Boss 302R photos to get a sense of the wheel positioning, as the 302R uses 18x10's. The offset for the 302R wheels is 2" (10" rim with 7" backspacing).

Those look pretty cool. Definitely NOT gold to go with the Vista as you said. Silver should really match up nicely though. Maybe have the center caps color matched in Vista?

Another reference point is the RTR 19x9.5 rims with a 33mm offset. See this thread for pics and details.
Because of the 1-1/2" - 2" offset, it will be a challenge to get much of a dish on the rims. With a 2" offset on a 10" wide rim, you only have 3" between the wheel flange and the outer edge of the rim. In that 3" there needs to be space for the spokes to clear the brake calipers. The style of rim that will do that and still have some decent dish will need to have spokes that curve inward by a fair bit. Neither of the rims pictured in the post just above do that. The one in the first post is better, but it likely won't be enough.

Have you tried searching the forum for existing threads on wheels? It is a very popular mod.

There is also this sticky thread in the exterior modifications forum.

the j line and ze can be custom ordered to any specifications and the vossen fits just fine. i know i want at least a 3 1/2 or 4 inch lip in the back...i have searched and all i can find is pictures, not specs or anything where anyone had a custom 20" wheel.

That is a very nice look for the car.

To me it looks like the outer lip of the rear rim is farther out than the fender. Which would be ok as long as the tire tread isn't (due to local laws on exposed rubber), and as long as the suspension travel won't allow the tire to hit the fender (not much lowering possible).

Here's a crazy deep wheel sold for Mustangs. The rear fits better than the one posted above.

yea i like the godspeeds but they dont make them in a silver or brushed with a chrome lip, which is what i am SET on. (silver 20's with a chrome lip) it is so hard to find wheels that arent outrageous in price. and i think the vossens are okay. the lip is like that because it is a reverse mount wheel...and maybe he didnt get the correct offset. i know they make the offset for the rear in +30 or +45mm and the front in +25 or +38mm

so, if i were to go with the vossen 20x10.5 and 20x9 what offset?

here are some other vossens in a 20x10.5 and 20x9 and they seem to fit fine:

WOW Vossen on a Mustang!!! By the way that's the look of the wheels, they are called Vossen Concave.
on a 10.5 out back 45-48mm will work. On the fronts 9" 30mm will be flush.

the car will be lowered on eibach pro's and i really dont want the rim sticking out or anything...so a 30mm offset with the 20x9's up front and what in the back? remember, they are 20x10.5...

50mm 7.7 BS will tuck in nicely. I would ask for GT500 fitment if anything.
