Wheel Weight
After all the anticipation of the new wheels for 2006, and the let down for some of us
, I have decided to go aftermarket. My big question is what about the wheel weight? How much of an increase in weight is acceptable without noticing decreased perfrormance. I want to get 18's, but am afraid of some of the weight on these aftermarket wheels. I read a thread on this board that the stock 17's are 27lbs. Is this accurate, and would an increase to 30 or 32 lbs. be a big deal?

OK, this surprised me! Took a stock bullit wheel to UPS, without a tire mounted and they weighed it at 22.1 lbs.
So the stock bullit is lighter than anyone has reported in the past. At least now we know what we're working from.

WoW... 22.1lbs. I wonder what kind of a difference going from that to some 7 lbs. more would be like. I wanted to get the FR500 reproduction wheel, but they are listed at 30 lbs each. I know some guys on here have them and would like to know what there experience has been? For that matter anyone who has heavier than stock wheels.

I weighed my 18" aftermarket wheels compared to the stock bullits and they were 5.5 pounds heavier each. (This is with the rubber mounted on them - keep in mind putting on wider tires will increase weight as well).
It was hard to determine if there was noticable difference or not in power. If there was a decrease in performance, it wasn't very much at all.
