Wheel Vintiques Billet Magnum 500's On
Well here's a few pics of just about the final touch's for the old Legend Lime "GTA". I was really leary about ordering these, talked to Wheel Vintiques in California quite a few times but no one could offer up any pics or opinions on how they'd fit. Wanted to stick with 17x8's cause I couldn't afford new tires, plus keep the look closer to the '69 and up Magnums on the old Stangs. Size wise, they're 17x8's with a 5.75 backspace. The company told me 18's (in their current sizings) wouldn't fit right.
Well, you can see that they fit perfectly. Might not be what everyone's looking for but I wanted a classic look to go with the rest of the subtle retro badging, etc.
Also picked up a set of SS Inserts Billet fog light bezels but had to add a bit of chrome trim around the grill opening and around the rear lights to even things up between the wheels, grill and rear deck. The chrome trim is wheel well moulding from Canadian Tire (Pep Boys equivalent to you U.S. guys) and only a few bucks worth.
So just two more things to go......a visit to Alternative Auto in Michigan tomorrow for an SCT + C&L 93 tune for my sluggish auto tranny and finally my MRT side louvers which arrived today (after only 6 months of PATIENTLY waiting (not!!!) but need painting.
After that....I'm officially broke. See you Ontario guys soon (hopefully). Mark.
Edit: Took away the chrome foglight bezels by popular demand - looks better without IMO. New pic on the bottom right is the new front end w/o the bezel ring. Thanks again everyone!!

Wheels look great, how much were they?

Everyone on this site is just too nice - but man it's appreciated!!! These things were the biggest expense so far and I was really afraid they wouldn't work.
One thing though.....I gave them a first polish after the tire shop did their dirty work and Billet Aluminum = work, lots of it. The days of washing/wiping the Bullitts are gone. Hope they stand up well. Time will tell.
Take care guys - Mark

Well thank you Original Sin, you were the first (concerning the 500's) to answer my question.

Hey, Mark. Before you put those louvers on, have you seen these?

http://forums.bradbarnett.net/index.php?showtopic=28889
I assume you're going for the 67/68 look since it's a GTA. Personally I don't like any of the louvers that have come out, but these are much more accurate (retro) than any of the others.
EDIT: Nevermind, Mark. I see you already posted in that thread.
Thanks for the pics, BTW. I just LOVE the look those black rocker panels gives the car!
Oh, and I think the grille trim looks great! The fog light bezels on the other hand just don't seem to fit. They stand out too much and look out of place, IMO. But you know, otherwise, I think you've got the best retro '05 out there. (and the wheels only add to that)

Hey Jason - thanks. You know, you (and Andy above) might be right about the foglight bezels but I can say that they look different in person. The camera shots seem to make them look unnaturally thick, bulky....something like that. In real life they're lighter looking. But anyways, as always, your honesty is appreciated so I'll be thinkin on whether they stay or go.
And those louvers - crap I wish I'd seen them before the MRT's got here. You're right about the thinner vanes being faithful to 67/68....MRT's are gonna be 66 ish but what the heck.....the wheels are 69 and up (except for one brief showing in 65) so the car's become the Heinz 57 of old Mustang cues.
Thanks again Jason - and everyone else. Mark
