I recently installed new wheels and tires - Torq Thrust II 18x10 in rear with 7.25" backspacing. I noticed that the right side sticks out noticably from the fender. I know other people have installed the same size wheels. Did anyone else have this problem? Pics here. The pics aren't great - I'll try to get others. The problem is much more noticable in person.

Note: I did not lower the car. I know people have had this problem when they lowered their car and installed an adjustable panhard rod. But in my case, I only swapped the wheels/tires.

I didn't measure the wheels to verify if the backspacing was correct, but I will tomorrow.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Jerry,
I have the same problem and have discussed it with others here. Here is the link:

Hope this helps.

Jerry,
Yours is the first one I've seen that's offset to the right. Maybe in your case, lowering the car would actually improve it. Your wheels are probably correct, it's just more noticable since you put them on.

Either way, like I said in Manny's thread, the dealer was able to adjust mine.

when you say to the right are you standing at the back of the car or the front? If anything, standing at the back of the car it should look like the axle is shifted to the left, not to the right. I have the same rims (hope you like them as much as I do) and the drivers side tire sticks out closer to the fender than the passenger side. An adjustable panhard rod will fix that problem.

Thanks for the replies. John, one look at your wheels is what made me buy these. I love them.

When I say to the right, I mean the passenger wheel sticks out from the fender (so, looking from the back of the car). Seems the opposite from what others have seen.

I'm taking it into the dealer on Thursday to fix the front strut TSB. I'll have them take a look and report back what they find.

that is odd that it is to the right. I'd switch the back wheels around to see if it is still that way. I had received a set and one of the rims had a different offset from the other. Place the passenger tire on the drivers side and the drivers side onto the passenger side and see if you still have the same issue.
