Getting new wheels for my car will be my 4th mod (1st was window tinting, 2nd was the AutoVentShade rear taillight frames, 3rd will be the MGW chrome interior accessories).

I just have a few questions for everyone before making my final decision. When reading the questions, keep in mind that I know very little about wheels. This will be my first dabble into buying after market wheels. Now onto the question ...

1) I understand the numbers on the stock 2006 V6 wheels are 16x7 with a 5x4.5 bolt pattern and a 39mm offset. Are these numbers accurate?

2) If "yes" to question #1, will wheels of the same size and bolt pattern, but a 42mm offset work on my car with the existing, stock tires (I want to use my existing tires on the new wheels)?

3) I've fallen in love with the American Racing "Casino" wheels. They come in both silver/polished and chrome. I'd love to hear opinions on which type everyone thinks would look better on a Vista Blue Mustang. In case you've never seen the Casinos, here's a link : Click Me

I know buying 16" after market wheels may seem like a silly thing to do to some people, but my main reason for doing this is so that I don't have to buy new tires, or make any kind of other modifications to the car. Flushing $400 down the toilet on new tires is not something I can afford to do at the moment (unless someone knows of a place where I can buy good, but cheap, tires.

I'd appreciate any input. Thanks!

1. yes those numbers are right
2. the difference in a +39 and a +42 means the new wheels will sit 3mm more inset under the car. the only thing you have to look at other then the bolt pattern, offset, and width is the center bore size, that is the size of the center of the wheel that goes over the center hub, included a pic for you so you know what im talking about, it has to be right for the vehicle or it wont work.
3. i think the chrome owuld look great on vista blue

the red circle in the pic is your hub cap it comes off and theres a hole in the wheel that has to fit over the hub on your car , if the hole in the wheels is to small none of the other numbers matter

hope that makes sence

That makes perfect sense. Thank you very much for the info.

But I guess that leads me to another question, then. How do I tell how big that hole is? I can measure it on my stock wheels, but how do I tell how big that hole is on after market wheels? I don't think it is listed on the American Racing website.

another option is to purchase a set of gt upgrade rims and tires for around 400 off of ebay or a set of bullit rims and tires off of ebay for around 500. when I get my new rims this spring I would like sell my 17" factory bullit rims for 400 to TMS members.

there are a couple stangs on the site with casino rims, like look pretty good, IMO, but I think those guys put on 18's.

Good luck with your decision.

Sam

i think the center bore on our cars is 73.6 or something like that just call american racing if theres a number on there site and ask them if those wheels will work on a 05+ stang

most of the time places like discount tire will have that info for you
