What size tires would look best on rear 18x10's

I've spent a fortune already on rims and tires. My wife is getting pissed but that's beside the point. Right now i have 18x8.5 chrome bullits all the way around w/ stock tires up front(235/50 )and 275/40 on the rear. I want to keep the 275/40's and put them up front w/8.5" chrome bullits. I want to buy 2 DD 18x10's bullits for the rear and want the beefy look but also look good w/the 275/40 up front. Lets hear your thoughts. I want to make this my last tire and rim purchase for a very long time. Thanks.

I have 285/40 Goodyear Eagle's on my 18x10 wheels and that's about all the car will take. The wheels are +44 offset. I'm not sure about DD wheels though.

For some reason it looks like Rich's are wider than yours and he has 285/40.

Jizabel, I like those 305's. Who makes them?
Jedikd,I have Falkens now and these may be an option as well. Are they 40's?

I think the wheel offset will have alot to do with how the tires will look on your ride.

Nitto's tend to run a size small.

revlefty nailed it - Nittos do run a bit smaller when compared to a tire of the same size from another manufacturer. Those Falkens will be gone in less than 18mo due to the low tread wear rating, which is a shame because they do look good (ask Burke0011). My vote is for the Nitto 555 295/45/18, but that's if you want a taller tire that will take some rear gear away (not much though).

That ride sure has inspired many here.

Yes, you're right, from that pic, it does look like Rich's are wider.

Must be my lack of camera skillz, since a 295/45 is 0.39 inches wider than a 285/40, but Nitto's run a little smaller.

The 295/45s look much better in MTAS' photo. But it could be the professional photo and model.

And the 1.5" taller tire will give you a 3.37 gear ratio if you have 3.55 installed. Not really much of a difference, and still lower than the 3.31 that comes standard now.

Also, wide rear tires (unless they're 29x18.50-15 Mickey Thompson Sportsmans) are hard to capture in a pic. I had 315/35/17 Pirellis on my 96GT and in person they looked incredible, but in pics it just didn't come across the same way.

Rich, what is the stock offset and what are the advantages or disadvantages of changing it?
also , this car is a garage queen so I will not be be going through tires any time soon. I've still got stockers that are like new and the car is just about 3 years old. I think I'm leaning towards the Falkens since I already have Falken 275/40's(and they are a somewhat affordable). Do you think 45's or 40's in the rear?(In other words ,have the rear tire the same low pro or go a little taller?) I have Ultralites

I can't really answer your question about the offset. When I ordered my Raceline wheels I asked them for the offset needed for 285/40 tires and they told me +44. My Raceline wheels don't have too much of a lip compared to some wheels but I still love the look.

If I were you I would probably go with what MTAS has on his car. They look really good on those DD Bullits!

Thanks. I had the wrong name I might get those rears. Now I gotta come up with about 500 for tires and 400 for rims
