I love just about everything about the 2005 GT except for the fog lamps. When I went to order my '05 GT, I tried to convince the dealer (and Ford) to build the car with the fog lamp wiring harness installed (in case I change my mind) but with the V6 grille. They couldn't (or wouldn't) do this. Any thoughts on how easy/expensive it may be to buy a V6 grille and change this out myself?

Thanks,
Stuart

It wouldn't be an exact fit, there will be some gaps.

In other posts about putting V8 grilles on V6's, they've mentioned some fit issues, since the lower front fascias are significantly different. If you want something that looks a bit less than professional, you can probably get your dealer to order the V6 grille for you. Otherwise, hopefully one of the aftermarket companies will come up with a grille that you like.

Try tinting the fogs so the're less noticeable?

I appreciate the feedback on this. I didn't realize the fit would be different (I just didn't pay enough attention to the V6!). I'll be checking the aftermarket...

Thanks,
Stuart

That would probably be your best bet, I am sure there will be something made specifically for the GT that is to your liking.

I think that the Fogs give the GT an awesome look, just like the old models. The V6 grill in my opinion is very plain and boring.

I actually love the classic Mustangs. I have a '67 coupe, but without the fog lamps. I agree with cntchds that the fog lamps are too much. For what it's worth, everyone else in my family thinks I'm nuts, and that the fog lamps are cool! I think the grille without the fog lamps has a really neat menacing look!

It's cool that we can all have our different opinions. I doubt they have forums like this about any subject in most of the world!

Woah, that's a sweeping assumption. I happen to love classic Mustangs more than anything, and I don't particularly care for the 05 GT fogs. For one, only GT's came with the grille mounted fogs (and GT's were rare, and not necessarily the fastest or best) and the '05 fogs are huge. The 65-68 GT fog lights are significantly smaller than the headlights. This looks much better IMO.

I think the GT fogs are awesome and one of the major "retro" design clues! I use them as DRL's and get people staring all the time....anyway to each his own and are we really certain that the V6/V8 grills aren't interchangable?

I ask because the headlight housings are the same, the vertical panel next to the headlight housings are the same - which is where the grill is bolted on and the top of the bumper fascias are the same.... I realize the lower area is different between the GT and V6 - but that has no impact with how the grill fits........besides we all know how Ford cuts costs by keeping things simple - why would they change the grill mounting between the two?

I would have to say the fogs are just not working for me. i am planning on trading in my 01 true blue bullitt stang for a white 05 gt. I use to have a 65 Shelby Mustang and will be making my new stang restyled like it. So i'm gonna have to find a grille without fogs.

Hellcat 6,

very nice '66 GT fastback. Auto or manual? A-code, C-code, or maybe K?
