I got the same update BUT they don't tell you if they are cut out for the 3rd light and if they have an indentation for the emblem. I shot them an email tonight. $395 for a painted ducktail doesn';t sound too bad and I'm sure installation would be pretty easy.

They said a while back there wouldn't be an indentation where the emblem goes if you order the spoiler w/o it. I think that (and the brake light screw up) is why it took longer for it to come out. They got a lot of complaints about the emblem. Including from me, but too bad they went with the seperate brake light, otherwise I'd be ordering one.
Any news on the Street Scene DT spoiler?

i've heard that the third brakelight is now required on new cars? at any rate, screw it! this is the best ducktail i've seen, except for the one at the orlando show that was MOLDED on . I prefer to not have that taillight, and all the ducktails i've seen with the cutout for it look far worse IMHO. If I get stopped, I'll have to hope the cop doesn't know/care about the poss. brakelight law, or at least has a soft spot for the classic look! i don't know about the pony emblem tho - i'm planning on adding those pony/tribar emblems on the side of my car a la dtdebuty http://forums.bradbarnett.net/index.php?sh...&hl=pony+emblem what do you guys think - would that many ponies on one car be too much, or would it be the perfect combo? i can't tell

I believe I read that CDC will have the third brake light to mount up in the rear windshield, probably down at the bottom. It just won't be in the spoiler.

I beleive it is, but only for manufactures to make & sell. Nowhere have I seen or heard that it's a LAW you can't cover it? Someone correct me if I'm wrong? So, I'm now wondering if I cover it, will I now fail my state inspection due every year

Any news on the Street Scene DT spoiler?

The Street Scene rear DT spoiler is done. A test fit will be preformed on Friday on the Street Scene Orange Mustang. ( The Orange Mustang is on its way back from Chicago Auto Show) If anyone is in the Costa Mesa CA area and wants to stop by today or tomorrow, Street Scene can use your car for the test fit and get it done sooner. Street Scene's phone number is 714 426 0590 if you are intrested in helping out. By the way, Street Scenes rear DT allows for a 3rd brake light.

OK ladies and gentlemen. I spoke via telephone today with Marnie and here's the scoop. The spoiler WILL NOT be available with a cutout for the 3rd light. The spoiler only covers the trunk lid and and side areas and does not go beyond that. Somehow I was thinking that it went all the way down between the tail lights. The with or without pony emblems is referring to the badge on the right hand corner of the spoiler. If you want a 3rd light they will sell you one for an extra $45 for you to figure out where and how to mount inside the rear window.

I talked the California Highway Patrol and asked if the 3rd light was a legal requirement. YES! If your car was manufactured with that light, which all new cars are, the it is required and you would be ticketed for not having it.

Well it's time to rethink my getting a CDC spoiler.

Is the MRT Interceptor rear spoiler the CDC Ducktail. They look very similar but I never realized they were the same until this 3rd brake light issue.

Well, sounds like CDC just shot themselves in the foot :notnice: Why make & sell something like this, that is not legal to have on your car

I mentioned in another post that MRT is making their own "3rd brake light" as well...

...so as long as you can re-wire one to work, you shouldn't have a problem with the law. Most cops/inspectors probably won't even know it's not stock

Just ordered 115031. It'll be here in the next few weeks. I checked with a friend of mine who's a painter at a bodyshop. Even he said, if it's only $100 for the painted version, get it.

Does the 3rd brakelight provided by CDC now make the car legal again seeing that it is in a new location, speaking of which, where is everyone locating this brakelight, I think at the top would look the best. Is this an inside mount?

Yes David, the CDC one is legal, it's DOT approved.
