Trial fit of new hood

I put the new hood I had picked up some time ago on the car for trial fitting today and took a few snaps. Looks like the prep will be minimal, and should look pretty nice once it's painted:

Sweet hood. Is it really that rounded or just the camera shot?

Across the top of the scoop section? It does have an arc to it.

The top pic is a bit fisheyed due to the lens setting.

Is that the Truefiber? What generation is it?

The vents look more true to the KR vents that the 1st gen hood they did.

Nope, not the Trufiber. This one is by IPP. It's a bit different than the factory type KR. If one wants a 100% KR clone, this isn't the way to go. My car isn't a KR replica, I don't want it to be, and there are features to this hood that I really like.

There's more of a rise, and it basically combines the features of the KR and a cowl type hood. There are functional vents on the rear edge facing the windshield along with the top mounted extractors. I'll try to post some other angles tomorrow.

I had the car out tonight, and was very impressed with this hood at speed. Had it up above 80, and not so much as a wiggle. I don't think I'll need to pin this unless I decide to strictly for looks. The top surfaces all angle down, and between the top and rear extractors there's zero chance of air getting trapped and pressure building up under the hood.

One thing that did kind of surprise me is my fuel mileage (using the trip computer which has always been within a tic or reality on my car) went up about 2-3 mpg with this hood. I'm figuring it's due to drag induced by my old hood (non-functional w/ forward facing scoop openings and no exit path for air)

The front edge is like the GT500 factory hood, so it'll most likely experience interference from the "pillars" on either side of the grille on a V6/GT style bumper the same as a GT500 hood would. Also the rise in the front edge wouldn't line up right.

The same company does make a near identical hood with the straight leading edge for the non-GT500 bumpers. I got mine from a dealer off of eBay. I'll hunt around and see if I can dig up their website.

EDIT: Here's the "regular" bumper version (same dealer I got mine from): http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/05-06...d=p3911.c0.m14

No problem. IPP also does these in carbon fiber if that floats your boat (I'm painting mine, and the 'glass is quite light enough anyway for me, so I skipped that)

I was really happy with AGV Racing. GREAT packing job on my hood. Huge box with plenty of foam surrounding the hood wrapped in heavy plastic, then that box was placed inside another box with more padding.

Very nice. I assume the GT500 version is also completely open on the bottom? I've been looking for different hoods that evoke the 68 Shelby style, but most of them have ducting for the scoops to the standard airbox location, and I'm looking for something that will work with the WMS intake. I guess I'll have to add this to the short list.

Yes, completely open. My car has an Eaton MP90 sitting atop the 60 degree 4.0L V6. That extra space is gonna come in handy getting an intercooler under there.

The IPP website appears to be offline. Just a logo placeholder there ( http://www.imageperformance.biz/ )

The AGV Racing link posted earlier is all I can locate for you

ohhh.... i didnt see the link you posted earlier... must have missed it somehow. thanks so much man... keep us updated when its fully painted and done!

i found the pics of carbon fiber on the red mustang with the gt front.... although the carbon fiber doesn't float my boat.... it gives me an idea of how it will look with the regular gt front... and it looks hot!!! even nicer with your gt500 front i must say.... but i just love the whole 4 lights up front look..... i also must add.... thats a good price on that hood on the ebay page... almost 3 bills off over other places... thanks for the find.
