So has anyone else done this? I just got my sensors and they are attached to the stock clips. So far the two that I have tried to take apart have broken the brown clips. Anyone have any info on how to remove the brown clips without them breaking?

To be honest it appears they will not come off regardless since i had to pry the clip with a screwdriver to remove it even after the clip broke.

I found out (the hard way) you just gotta gently press the top tabs together and slide it out. Fist tiem I tried, they didn't move, so i tried pushing it out from the bottom and they snapped in half. Lucky my ford dealer had a ton of them and I got replacements.

I just want to make sure that 8C2Z-1A203-A is the right number for the Mustang sensors. My Ford dealer is indicating that this is only for the E-Series truck sensors and he is trying to hit me up for $25 for the tool. On top of that the dealer charged me "only $27, knocked down from $45" for re-training the sensors after I had snow tires put on.
The interesting thing is that the tire dealer could not get his $700 tool to re-train my sensors! What a rip-off!!!

You dont have to re-train the sensors because you changed the tires out. 25$ is not bad for the tool, i paid 20 on ebay. I think the service department should just do it for free, just for having a ford. it took my wife 2min. to do it, on the first try.

Anybody know if these can be had for under $45 at dealerships now? Seems all online prices have gone up.

TPMS not entering training mode
Hi,please help I cannot get my 07GT into TPMS training mode...
The car was bought used and imported to Japan, it tells me 'tire pressure monitor fault.'
The shop tells me sensors are installed, but they cannot get the system to work.
Here in Japan, the TPMS is not required and Ford dealers cannot help me.
I follow the steps in the first post(quoted below), but nothing happens...
Am I missing something???

Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position, then press and release the brake pedal.
Cycle the ignition switch from the OFF position to the RUN position 3 times, ending in the RUN position.
Press and release the brake pedal.
Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
Turn the ignition switch from the OFF position to the RUN position 3 times, ending in the RUN position.
The horn will sound once and the TPMS indicator will flash if the training mode has been entered successfully. If equipped, the message center will display TRAIN LF TIRE.

You're missing the TPMS calibration tool. And the steps you list don't include the step for using the calibration tool. When it says TRAIN LF TIRE, it's telling you to hold the TPMS calibration tool up to the side of the LF tire to calibrate that sensor. You're repeat that with all four tires.

The tool can be found online from a few places, Ford dealers over here sell it for about $25.
American Muscle sells it for $35.

Dixie, thanks for reply.
I do have the tool, but I cannot use it, because the car does not enter the training mode.
Is it correct to start the steps by inserting the key to the ignition, and press and release the brake?
Or should the engine running before the steps? Maybe it doesn't matter... I'll try again.

Don't do it with the engine running. Sorry I misunderstood your situation, I thought you maybe did not have the tool.

I do not believe run means having the engine running... I think it means the detent point just before the engine is to start.

Good luck!

it has been a long time since i have done it, but try putting the key in, turn it to run, then turn it to off (instead of just putting the key in the ignition and pressing the brake).... then press and release the brake, and do the rest of the steps in as stated in the instructions.

don't start the engine at all during the process.

let us know how it goes.

how did they check that the sensors were there? i am guessing they took off each tire to see?

maybe you can make a video clip showing how you are trying to enter the training mode?

Do you have all the doors closed while you're trying to enter the training mode?

Rotating them has no effect. And it took 100 miles after changing wheels which included different sensors for the TPMS lamp to come on.

Ford's first TPMS system is basically useless. It only detects side to side difference based on rotational speed. So you could have both rear tires with 5 psi and it wouldn't detect anything out of whack because they would be turning at the same speed.

Awesome thread. How would you rate the installation difficulty for some one (like me) who is new to this type of modification? I plan on getting new wheels and tires soon too.

Easy as spit. Just get the bands, get the sensors. It's pretty straightforward when you look at them. Install the bands and tighten til snug, then cut off the excess. The sensors and cradles I had were very tight. I helped the guy at DiscountTire do mine just to save time; he didn't seem extremely familiar with them anyhow.

And the training is done with the key past the accessory position, so all your gauge lights come on, the spot right before you fire the ignition. If you're not getting the message are you sure your car is equipped with them? I have take off GT500 wheels w/o sensors and my car still goes through the setup sequence as above, just can't train anything cause there's nothing there.
