Not too mean. They have tried to search my rides many many many times. Only a few times did they actually search after my refusal.

No, I wasn't comfortable with what I posted.

I have the stupid TPMS thing on my car as well... very annoying.

When we did the motor swap we found that the smart junction box on the '06 didn't even have that as an option so the GT500 computer just sees it as a TPMS fault even if I HAD the sensors on the wheels.

It beeps once when I turn it on and then doesn't do it again, but I find it ridiculous that the government has decided we're too slow to realize when one of our tires is low.

SOMEHOW, and I don't know how, I managed to keep my tires properly inflated for 30 years without it. I have no idea how I did it... witch craft? Magic?

Oh no wait... I just looked at the **** tires and could see if one needed air... DOH!

Yeah but that's the point - you looked!

I pay attention and look coming out of the grocery store, kick the tires in the driveway, and check pressure at least monthly and especially before a 'fun' drive. Habits from years before having silly sensors.

Whereas with the government forcing idiot devices, newer drivers will not develop safety habits.

While I agree with what you are all saying, it wasn't due to the government wanting to force more stupid devices on us just because. Even though they do sit around looking for ways to make our lives harder on a daily basis, this whole thing actually sprung out of the whole Ford Explorer, Firestone tires nonsense. Since Ford blamed the tires being improperly inflated, the Gov had an instant knee jerk reaction and came up with TPMS. Yea, it's really stupid I agree.

I didn't know that. That's crazy that some faulty tires that Firestone made and Ford happened to install on their vehicles caused the idea of a TPMS.

If you are going to make us have TPMS, for Pete's sake give us the actual pressure reading of each tire in dash.

Some manufacturers do. I know jeep does or did. So i would assume all of chrysler does.

No.

It would seem the sensors feed right into the PCM, it's not a separate system. You either have to make it work (new bands + sensors), trick it into thinking everything's fine (pipe bomb or install them into the spare tire) or live with the beeps and error messages (blarg).

I'm not just saying this, I've been keeping my eye out for about three years. Feel free to use the search feature here, at MM and S197 for disabling TPMS, you won't find anything conclusive on the subject. And if you do, please let us know!

You can re-use your old sensors. I also have a set of sensors and a new re-learn tool up for sale in the 4 sale section way cheaper.

Does the TPMS have a dedicated fuse that could be pulled and stop the error message?

Nope... Has its own module and communicates with the ic. You disable the tpms module and the ic will display tpms system fault.

Just a heads up. Some older tpms models could be reset with a magnet around the valve stem.
