Just ordered 2006 GT. Want to upgrade to 275x40x18 like the roush car on 10 inch wheels. This is new to me ,i am used to trucks and jeeps! Some people put smaller wheels and tires on the front ECT... Can anyone tell me what this will do to the handling of the car? And what wheel off set i need for 10 inch wheels. I really dont care if they are 10 or 9 or 8 as long as they stick out a bit like the roush car? please help

Why are so many people trying to talk me out of 10 inch wheels on fron???? Help!!!!!!!!!!

Roush uses an 18x10 (or 20x10) both with +45mm offsets. What wheels are you looking to get?

You might like to consider 255s up front if the '06 is to be a daily driver.

Dont do 10" rims with 275/40's . I have 275/40 on 9" rims on all 4 and I think the tires I have barely stick out past the rim. I already have curb rash on 2 rims.

The Roush wheels do not stick out up front or rear.

The smaller tire up front "thing" is from the traditional hot rod/muscle car look of the 60s-70s.
Nobody put big tire in front back then, they just wanted big fat rubber in the rear for traction.
People used shackles, bigger coil springs and even airshocks to raise the rear for tire clearance.

Roush car looks more track oriented in my opinion. It does not have that classic muscle-look with 275s on the front, that is for sure.

You won't see huge tires on the front of most street/strip cars. They are usually going for less weight - not handling for a circle track.

Here, I set this up real quick so you can compare aftermarket sizes to the OEM ones. On the right side of the sheet you'll see "suggested" sizes. Those are based on tread 1" to 2 1/4" wider than the rim. If you're going to stagger 8" up front and 9.5" out back you can go 235/50s front and 295/40s rear for that 'old school' look. There is only the one pic I have of them on the car in the other thread. I will take some more. It could be just the toyos 275....maybe another 275 would fit better.

Roush does it, so I'm sure it's perfectly fine for anyone else to do it as long as they get the correct offset like mentioned earlier.

I have the roush wheels and they do not stick out at all. They don't rub and the handling is 100% improved!
