Hey I was trying to get some opinions on rim ideas and also find out what the widest rear tire you can fit is on the 05 GT, I've seen 285's on steeda's but was curious if a 305 or 315 would fit; at the bare minimum I'm going to run 295's...and what offset and backspacing I would need. The rims I'm kinda debating over are the Billet Specialties SLX-45's and the Anthracite FR500's but any other good combinations would be appreciated 18's only , Thanks ~Trent

Trent, take a look at my post.

http://forums.bradbarnett.net/index.php?showtopic=17787

I have 285's and only have 1/4" space on the inside and 1/8" space on the outside. I can't see fitting anything wider than a 295.

Thanks man, what is keeping them from going wider on the inside, couldn't you just adjust the backspacing to get wider ones to fit or is a suspension component in the way or something else? Thanks again and sweet ride!

Hey Trent. Is that your car in the Avatar. I posted asking about anyone with that style of stripes. Congrats on daring to be different.

As for the rims. I think I am set on some black bullitt style ims with the polished lip. I saw a set for 695 on another thread.

Yeah its Classic Design Concepts car, the hood is actually carbon fiber with the carbon not painted and the rest of the hood painted around the stripes, I think it looks really good with their shaker, as for the rest of their car...the rims are ridiculously large and rolling on rubber bands, I'm going to run the same hood with the paint, but 18's and hopefully a GTR front bumper, any more suggestions on rims? what do yall think about running those anthracite FR500's?

Trent first off let me start by saying the backspacing is as much as I can get in the rear - 7.25" which is close to a 55mm offset. They are the tire is very close to hitting inside the wheelwell both at the inner and outer sections. That is why I say don't even think of the rim. Just take the tire by itself, stick it up in the wheelwell and see what I mean. Not much space for anything over a 295.

Now you commented on the CDC car rims being "ridiculously large and rolling on rubber bands". If you are referring to the same car that had the shaker installed, such as in your avatar, those rims were American Racing 18" rebels. Not sure if I would say they were ridiculously large.

11.22/11.61 respectively divide by 25.4 I think.

they certainly don't look like 18's to me...but according to the american racing site they only make them in 18's at the biggest, I stand corrected. I guess they just look funny to me because of the super low sidewall... I'm down with 18's thats what I plan on running

Those are definitely not 18 (IMO), because my friend just put those rims on his car and they do not fill the wheel well like that.

See thats what I was thinking to, Adrenalin was right on the id as far as the American Racing Rebels but those look like at least 20's if not bigger, because I have several pics of 05 stangs with 18's and they are no where near that big or on that small of sidewall, my guess would be special edition sizing for CDC's car

so nobody with pics of their wide tires in the rear I'm guessing? judging by what Adrenalin said it looks like I will be running 285-40-18's all around then unless I can find someone who's tucked fatter tires out back, Thanks to everyone for the input!
