Has anyone installed these hood pins?

Can you buy them?

Do a search, several people have already installed the Ford Racing Hood Pins. Vegasjay and acadian I think both have them and they look great. I prefer where they mounted them compared to the pick you posted.

Is it just me, or does this version of the hood pins not have the metal "ropes" connected from the pins to the car?

If so, I really like the way this looks, and, if the "ropes" are missing, then this version is different from VegasJays' and Acadian's pins I think.

You can take the cables off, no matter what pins you get. It's personal preference. In my opinion, the cables should be on... definitely more like the late 60's Shelbys. These pins on the Cammer appear to be very similar to the FRPP pins but without the round plate that goes over the hole in the hood. If you install the hood pins where they are in that pic (which is ugly IMO) you can't put the plate on because that part of the hood is curved a good bit. So, that would explain the lack of plates. Go to Summit Racing's website http://www.summitracing.com and you can find hood pins there.

My 68 California Special has hood pins without the cable. Wonder if these would work on the 05? I'll see if I can find a better picture of the front. But for now...

I also noticed in another picture of the cammer that they added 2 more pins for a total of 4! I wonder if this has anything to do with the hood vibration people are talking about at high speeds??

If they had put the two outside pins closer to the middle (where they are supposed to be) they wouldn't have needed 4. That's just excessive.

Robyn, those are sleek pins you have. I, personally think that hood pins should have more character. I like the cables and pins...

Yes, that looks nice too!

I definately will put pins on, just have to decide which ones.

Will have it done when I bring the car for painted stripes. Going to paint the mirrors and think I'm going with the Xeon spoiler too. Unless something better comes along before the car comes in. I would like to see more pics from different angles first. I wish someone else would do it first and post pics

They look like the "Ricer" pins sold at any parts store. I say Ricer since that is the section you will find them in. I had a set on my jet car a couple years back and they do work well. I didn't think they were rice but hey, call em like the section their in I guess.

Hood pins can be rice, I agree. But unltimately it depends on the car they are placed on. Hood pins on a Civic = rice; Hood pins on a Mustang = not rice

So Eric, are you saying that a good majority of the older stangs (60-70's) were ricers before that term was ever used? I have a set on order so if my car looks like rice, so be it.

I ate red beans and rice last night... does that make me a ricer too?

Hood pins on a Mustang = American Muscle!

I gotta laugh. I only said they were rice since this "style" is in the APC / tuner import section at the parts store. I have pins in mine also. Hood pins are not rice, just the location you find that "style". I just wasn't sure how they would look or fit on the 05.

BTW, did you guys take a close look at the pins in question? They have a slide rail that the torsion clip rides in so you cannot loose any parts. Look in the APC / sport compact / tuner section as those pins are there. After seeing that top pic, I wish I would have put that style on mine.

These look like the ones in the top picture and on my old jet car, search Google for APC hood pins

ah, I see what you are getting at. Well I will be installing the Ford Racing kit and using the lanyards (cables) so I won't lose any parts either
