Tire Advice - Chime in

Hi guys,

I'm currently in the next couple of days going to order some black chrome bullitts from AFS for my WBlue 05 GT.
I need some advice as to what you would ... or what would look good.

1) 18x9 all around with 255/45ZR18s

2) 18x9 all around with 255/45ZR18s in front, 285/40/ZR18 in rear

3) 18x9 in front, 18x10 or 10.5 in the rear with 255 in front, 285 in rear as above

I don't know how it would look with a staggered rim (8 inch wide front, 10-10.5 in rear)
I'm still waiting to hear back from AFS on the backspacing on the 10.5 (I was asking for 10s...but in the email it stated 10.5)

This is a looks question, not a tire rotation question.

I don't want it to stick out and look ghetto...
and I want a beefy tire in the rear (no larger than 285)

I like option #1 because that is what I got with my 18x9 polished bullits from afs. I bought a set of 18x9 saleen replicas and they had245x40 on the fronts and265x35 on the backs. I really didn't like the look of smaller aspect tires on the back. As far as your third option,I prefer your first. But,hey , different strokes for...

Well the sidewall on the 255/45 and 285/40 are the exact same... 4.5inches... so they will look the exact same, save the width.
The tire itself is 0.2% difference...not even noticeable...

My concern is the offset and it sticking out... with a rim thats 10.5inches wide...
But it seems like having even the 18x9s all around,

I could still put the 285s in the rear I just won't be able to rotate,
I'll have to get them unmounted from the rim and swapped...

from what i have seen with my friends 17X9 Chrome Cobras they do stick out a bit...so i am thinking that 18X10 will stick out a bit from the fender well

With the correct backspacing they won't stick out at all. 18x10's in the back here...

3) 18x9 in front, 18x10 or 10.5 in the rear with 255 in front, 285 in rear as above

That's my vote, but stick to 18x10. You're right, the 10.5s will probably stick out a bit too much.

10.5's with 42-48mm offset do not stick out at all. GI Joe is running 10.5's with 315/35/20's on his car, lowered, and has no issues. 43mm offset.

So basically I'm waiting back on AFS to find out what the specs are on that rim.

Though I look below the car..and it almost looks like the rim/tire would hit the stablizer bar...

Other than rubbing?

Oh and I guess I should mention I already have a set of 2 x 255s
So I'm either going to go with another set of 2x255 or 2x285s
Leaning towards the beef

Again I just want to make sure they fit, don't rub in the back and don't stick out all ghetto

So i'll call AFS to order, but I got an email that states that they don't carry a 10/10.5 in the mustang 05+ black chrome...
... so I have to order 4 x 18x9s

So... question is...
Will a 285 tire bulge too much on a 9 inch wide rim on the 05?

On 10 inch deep dish with 45 backspace the outside of the wheel and the outside of the wheel are the same. I tried them first without the 305/45/18 I put on. I believe deep dish on the rear and shallow dish on the front look the best. Wish that is what I purchased. I purchased from Mustang Tuning and Discount Tire for the Nittos

Check out VegasJay's car. He has 18x9's on the back with the 285's, it looks great. To be honest, just looking at pictures I can't see any difference. Not that I sit at home staring at pictures of VegasJay's car...
