For those of you entering car shows
I'm about to start entering my car in some shows and was needing some ideas for a plackard or sign describing my modifications. I'm thinking I want it to be free standing next to my car. What have some of you done. Pics and advice needed! Thanks to all who respond.

I'm cheap.......
So I made a simple printout of the car's highlights and all modifications completed, in a simple black frame that sits on the radiator cover. Quick to put out, and also quick for people to read. It must work for something, because I've gotten 2 Best of Show awards this year in judged events and 3 other general-placing awards. Here's some pictures:

Brad's is really nice. One of the nicest that I have ever seen. afterthoughtsauto.com sells the cool stand that he uses. I ordered one yesterday and am just waiting for it to arrive.

I wouldn't say it gives you points........but it does give you the ability to outline the unique points and mods that you've done that otherwise some people or judges may miss.

I paid like 12$ at a Walgreens or something and bought an art easel - left off the long leg extensions so it sat pretty close to the ground and placed it by the front of the car....
worked great!

A good friend of mine made me this one.
It'll be printed out on 11x17 and laminated. I had an older version of this poster (before some of bigger mods) and just clipped it to the radiator cover along with laminated copy of my window sticker.
Didn't have to worry about the wind blowing it away, people kicking over an easel stand or guys with knarly Harley belt buckles leaning into the engine bay trying to read my poster.
It's pretty basic, but guess it was enough to draw a crowd.

Hey, great thread! I'd like to share with you my creation. I created a 20x30 sign using Adobe Illustrator. I compiled statistics about my car, a brief history of my experience with it, and a little trivia about the color just for fun. I included one photo of the car in an interesting place and added some graphics just to help the design pop a little. I think it came out pretty good. I am fortunate in that I work for a printer, and was able to produce a high-quality inkjet proof of the sign for free. However, it cost me about $55 to have the print drymounted to gator board (a lot stiffer than foam core) and then laminated to keep water from reactivating the ink. At first, I placed the sign on a small easle in front of the car, but the wind wanted to keep take it away! So I placed the sign inside the windshield and used the rearview mirror to hold it in place. It doubled as a heat shield; my steering wheel was noticeable cooler when I got back in the car at the end of the day.
The sign stopped people in their tracks. It was pretty funny, because there was nothing special about my car. It was literally a "bone stock" GT! So to see people stop and take notice, and read my sign was very gratifying. Good luck with your sign!
