I'm sure they could fit and would look pretty bad **** in my opinion. Just need some fattys on the back with the old die hard Craiger SS's - maybe white lettering on the outside - whoa, flash back And yes, I still love the Craiger SS's!

I suspect they would fit but they would be 18" so you would have to buy new tires.

I just put chrome bullits(not Cragar) just like those on my 05 Mustang. I started out looking at ebay wheels as well. Then I found out that Discount Tire will match internet prices for wheels. They wont match an auction but they will match internet prices. I wanted to stay with an 17" wheel since my tires are still almost new. I found chrome bullits very similar to the ones Discount Tire sells at a place called LM Performance for $175ea. They are $237ea on Discount Tires webpage. They matched the $175. I was $845 out the door tax and new chrome lugs and valve stems included.

This is probably not much savings over buying wheels on a ebay auction but there is much less risk!!! They guarantee that they will fit and they deal with anything that goes wrong. If there is something wrong with the wheels you get in a auction then you may have some problems and there will be a lot of delay. And wheels are not cheap to ship......

Good luck!

I saw those rims you were talking about. There are 3 sizes, which ones fit the pirelli tires? Do you have a pic of them on your car?
Thanks

The ones from Discount Tire are listed on the web as made by Replica Alloys but in reality they buy them from several places. The ones they will fit the 05 are the 17x8 version. I have heard of people trying to put the stock tires back on a 17x9 rim but I would not recommend it. The original rims are 17x8 and these are available in that size so that is what I went with. The "offset" is different. The factory wheels I believe have a 45mm offset and these have a 29.5mm offset but the bottom line is that they stick out about 1/2 inch more than the stock wheel/tire. It is barely noticible and in fact to the extent that you do notice it, it looks really cool!!! Gives the car an even more muscular look/aggressive stance.

I don't have any new pics of it with the new wheels but I plan to take some soon and will post them as soon as I can.

The major point of this whole discussion tho is that if you go to Discount Tire they will order them and the whole thing will have to be right or you don't get them and you are not out any money and you don't have to try to return something you bought online. When you look online there are 100s of wheels in all different sizes. There is not just width and diameter. But also offset and backspacing. And people do not reliably apply offset as positive or negative so it is easy to get it wrong if you do not deal with wheels a lot so for almost the same money it just seemed so much easier to me to be able to buy them and let Discount Tire take all the risk.

One other note tho.... these wheels come with really chesey center caps..... I got the people at Discount Tire to find me some Mustang Pony tribar center caps for them. I paid $25ea for the center caps which is a little high but then again it was all their risk, if they did not fit and look right I did not pay anything. THey were actually Ford Racing center caps. They look really good and so do the wheels.

backspacing is the only issue i had on mine. I had 17x9 and 1/2 all around on my 01gt. Looked great with the lazer red... They are a heavy wheel though

Those are the rims I've been planning to put on my 05 since I ordered it . Cragar did make the original 'bullitt' rims and they look awesome.

Are you looking for 18" rims or 17" rims?
These are made by the same company that made my FR500 rims.
They are 18x9 Bullitt replicas with a +36mm offset and they come in chrome. You want to get as close to +45mm as you can since that's what originally came on the car. As for the center caps, a set of 2004 pony center caps will fit perfectlt in these wheels.

Oh to answer your original question, yes, those rims will fit the '05. They will fit the same as the ones I listed above. They will look better than some with a lower offset because they won't stick out as much. Like I said, ideally you want as close to +45mm as you can get... w/o going over +45mm.

StangNut, that 45mm figure is only correct if it's an 8" rim- like stock. The offset needed will change if you use a wider wheel. The 36 mm offset is proper for a 9" wheel because it spaces the offset around 1/2" to both sides.

I have 17x9 chrome bullitts all around. They are 45mm offset, and line up perfectly with the fenderwell. I ordered them from mustangtuning.com, and paid $800 (free shipping, no tax). Of course, now they are $185 ea: http://mustangtuning.com/ch20mubuwh1.html

I had Discount tires mount up the Nitto 450s (275/50 in the rear, and 255/50 up front).

I have to dissagree. Going with +36mm on a rim that is 1" wider effectively puts ALL that extra inch to the outside. (1/2" because of the increased width and 1/2" because of the adjusted offset.)

There is plenty of room on the inside for that extra 1/2". Why not put it there? And the only way to do that is to use the +45mm offset.

There. smarter than I appeared, edited my previous post to include the picture. Has anyone seen the difference in person between these and chrome?

That all depends. Offset is the distance from the mounting face to centerline of the wheel. Depending on where they added the extra width from centerline, 36mm might be the correct offset. In other words, if they added the extra inch towards the outside of the wheel and the mounting face stayed where it was (giving you a deeper dish), the mounting face is now closer to centerline. 1 inch equals about 25mm, so if the inch was added all to the outside, this would move the centerline 25mm closer to the mounting face. Again, if the mounting face stays in the same place, you now have a wheel with a 20mm offset (45 minus 25) and a wheel that is sticking out 1 inch further from the stock wheel. Obviously, that will stick out to far and rub in the fender.

9mm (45 minus 36) is about 1/3 of an inch, so working backwards and assuming they want to keep the position of the wheel in the wheelwell close to stock, they could have added about a third of an inch towards the outside of the wheel, and about 2/3 of an inch to the inside, giving you a new centerline and an offset of 36mm.

More than likely they split the difference and just added a half inch in both directions, so the correct offset would be 45mm. To give a deeper dish to the wheel, they probably decided to move the mounting face in 9mm, giving you the 36mm offset. This is only .35 of an inch (about a third of an inch). This won't give you any mounting issues, but gives you the half inch they added, plus another third of an inch for a deeper dish look on the outside of the wheel.

As an example, my GTO comes with a 17x8 wheel with a 48mm offset. I can mount 18x8 wheels with a 40mm offset with no issues. The acceptable range of offset for 8 inch wheels on the GTO is 35mm-50mm. For 9 inch wheels it is 45mm-60mm

From my research, for a 17X8 45mm offset is correct, but for an 18X9 the correct offset is 36mm with a 6.42" backspace. Most of the aftermarket wheels for the '05 in 18X9 are now using this offset (at least the ones I looked at).

Here are some pictures to make your own judgements from:
