They are still fiberglass I believe, but instead of doing to separate molds for a top and bottom piece, it is now injection molded and one piece. At least that's what's been said on teamshelby.com
Does anyone know the weight of the SS or Venom hood? And can anyone point out the differences between the SS and the Venom hood? Thee SS hood looks like the back tapers down as it gets closer to the windshield where as the Venom has a consistent height from the front scoops all the way back?

You are right and this is the 1st Venom hood done and tested with the new style hood pins. Some of you made some "booger" comments in the past because of my old hood pin positions. They didnt look bad in my opinion, just different. And some of you went to say that my car fell from top of the list of favorites to the bottom. Well, its redemption time. This new version is alot easier to prep, work on and weighs less.
Put some stripes on that car and call it a day. Too much yellow.
Rob, its their new hood with the inserts for hood pins already molded in. This is the only one made by them and test fitted to verify usability and functionality of the hood pins and should now go into production.

Also, is it a "generic" type of "hood pin hole"? I really like the ones that have the wire going down to the front, so will any of those types work or is it just the style you have (not that those dont look good too, but curious).

I head back to the states in a fdew days. augest probly aug 8th when im in vegas im going to go to shelby automotive ( do the tour) and try to speak with the sales rep there about the hood as by then it will be well over a month of them saying a couple weeks.
it might look like a KR hood but if you have a laptop and you angle your screen down youll see that it still possibly a SS style hood the nose splitter seems to be recessed under the scoop or dead even with it hard to say unitll he post back up

Hood is far too high towards the windshield to be an SS hood.
I don't know the weights of either hood, but I can tell you that the SS hood is just that .. the SS hood. The TruFiber Venom hood is a clone of the GT500KR hood. The KR or clone hood is slightly different on the intake area of the scoop and slightly lower profile. Personally, I love the look of the KR hood. I was this !.! close to buying the SS hood but a friend talked me out of it. I'll be going with the Venom hood. I hear there is a new version coming out with the twist locks on it from the factory.

The Venom appears to be a mold off the S.S hood with the center piece between the front nostrils taken from the KR hood. The KR hood definitely appears to taper off more and become flusher with the rest of the hood as it gets closer to the winshield than the SS and Venom.
I'd still like to know the weight difference of either the SS and Venom though. The KR is 11 pounds in Carbon Fiber. Fiberglass hoods typically weigh around what... 20-25lbs.? Anyone know the weight of the either the stock GT and GT500 aluminum hoods?
