Striping and spoiler question

My car had the factory spoiler and the stripes were installed underneath it (covering the entire trunk lid). I took the spoiler off and want to put on the GT500 spoiler. Can I put the spoiler directly on top of vinyl stripes or is that problematic? (spoiler sticks on with 3m tape)

That stripe is prolly only about 4mil thick. That shouldn't pose a problem. It would be cool if you could find the same striping and cover the spoiler as well but thats your call.

Of course I am going to stripe the spoiler too. It would look pretty strange without it.

A GT500 spoiler is not held on only by 3m tape.. if anything I'd think about not putting tape where the stripes are if you even remotely consider taking it off at some point.

He's right. Its held on by tape AND bolt. A friend of mine replaced his stock spoiler with a GT500 one and according to him, it was a pain in the neck to remove it. Good luck!

If you need to apply tape where the vinyl is, you need to remove the vinyl in that area. Vinyl adhesive is fairly strong, but not strong enough for something like that. Most likely you would find that after a while the vinyl has lifted from the paint where you placed the tape for the spoiler.
