To Stripe, or not to Stripe?

I have a black 07 GT that I was thinking about installing stripes. I was going for the all black look: Black wheels, window tint, louvers, spoilers, interior, etc. I liked the clean look of ALL black, however, I am begining to like the "stripe" look like Toca Bill, Donna, Tom281, Adrenalin, etc... I think it just makes the car look faster . Questions- Type: paint or vinyl? Color: silver, gray, white...? Size: 12" w/1" gap, 10" w/2" gap...? I'm leaning torwards Vinyl/Satin Silver/10" w/2" gap... or nothing . What do you think? And those of you who have installed the vinyl stripes- how difficult was it, where did you purchase them, and what was the cost? A lot of questions... sorry. Finally, please furnish pics(black). Thanks

I definitely like the stripes, the wider the better and WRAP the car. I don't like the stripe kits that end at the hood and 3rd brake light
I would say Silver or White, but I would go 12" w/2" Gap.
If money is of no concern, get them PAINTED.
I have 12" Gloss White 2" Gap vinyl and bought them from Baltimore Street Mods. (I will get them painted on eventually.)
They are not really hard to install, just VERY time consuming. The front Fascia is by FAR the most difficult and I recommend a hair dryer and an extra set of hands to assist in the install.
Oh yea cost was around $150 shipped.
Painted I would guess $1700-2500 for a good paint job.

Hey! Spell my name right! ... j/k

If I had a Black GT, and was going the vinyl route, I would choose a dark colored stripe like dk. charcoal. If paint, ghost stripes all the way.

If you haven't already, take a look at the stripe spreadsheet to see the different stripe color combinations on black.

Here is a picture of my 2006 GT. I know its not the best picture to see the stripes but my digi camera is busted and this is off my friends camera (the one that owns the caddy).

The stripes are vinyl 12 inch with a 2 inch gap. Got them from Baltimore Street Mods for $150. I definitely suggest you purchase from them. I messed up on one of the pieces and they sent me a replacement in 2 days free of charge. Besides that hiccup the install was fairly easy. Just time consuming.

I lost sleep over the same decision as you between the silver/gray and white when I purchased mine. Very happy that I went with white.

I agree w/ Toca Bill,

A charcoal grey colored stripe would look great and it wouldn't wouldn't really take away from the stealth look of all black.

Hey SteelTown, I'm going to back up Bill. I'm waiting to see a black Mustang with alloy stripes. I think that would look awesome. I've actaully been thinking about putting alloy Strpes on my Black GT. I'm surprised I haven't seen any pics yet of this done........It would give a great ghost look but still retain the stealth look of black....

I think a few people have done that combo. Have you checked AFBlue's spreadsheet with all the striped pictures?

I got my stripes from Baltimore Street Mods - I think it was $159 for the main stripes and maybe $25 for the side stripes.

Took a weekend for me (with no experience) to stripe the car. Take it slow and easy. Now that I know how to do it, I could do another car much faster. The front and rear bumpers are the hardest. The rest of the car is a piece of cake.
