Anyone here with a Street Scenes kit.

I just had this body guy look at the kit and he said the front bumper was "bent" and that I would need a new one.

It's not perfectly straight... but the material is so flexible it seems like you couldn't really "bend" it if you tried.

He also wanted to charge me 1000 dollars to paint and install... and then he says, "I think your car looks fine without it"

He also said it was the wrong bumper... I think he's off his tree or something because I know it's not the wrong bumper.

So long and short... this guy was recommended to me by a friend, but I think he just doesn't want to work on the car for some reason, I have no idea. He said it would be two weeks before he could get to me either way and that I would need to send the front bumper back for a new one.

I'm going to get a second opinon, obviously

But I wanted to ask what you guys paid for the install / paint. He wanted 1k for just painting the parts... he said "blending" them would be even more...

I have a Tungsten GT so I know metallics are traditionally harder to match, and I know the material makes the paint look slightly different so I may get it blended... but I just want to know about what to expect.

Thanks for any help guys

well, if it is going to be painted properly, then $1,000 is about right. I paid $2,000 CAD (cash money) to have the kit painted. They epoxy coated the parts, primed and then painted.

Now, you need to explain what you mean by bent? That I don't understand. Is it the lower section of the opening that looks like it is drooping?

Here is what mine looks like after primed. Does it look "bent" to you? [attachmentid=35735]

Now, to say it is the wrong bumper, the only way he would know this is to look at the attachment locations and where the grill mounts to the bumper. The V6 and GT bumpers are not the same.

My car is Sonic Blue Metallic and they had no problems matching the metallic. You couldn't tell they were not done at the factory.

Thanks for the reply John

Here are some pictures.

Basically it's at the top where it's bent more than the other side... but there was tape that was wrapped on the area and I just cut it off tonight, so I know that's why it's misshapen right there... but I figure it will come back... I don't know.

its going to look bent like that till you put it on the car, when everything is bolted or snapped into place it will all straighten out, go somewhere else and have someone who knows what the heck there working with do it for ya

oh ya i paid 600 for mine painted and installed but it was a good friend that did it so im not sure what you should pay normally, sorry

It will form better once on the car, you can also put it out in the sun for a little while and it will soften a little and go back into shape. It should be fine... try to find a good body shop that knows how to paint urethane. There are some tricks to urethane and if its not done right, it will peel, cause "fish eyes" or pin holes....

Thanks very much for the replies everyone... my mind has been put at ease

I contacted Extreme Mustang Performance x-m-p.com

So I'm hoping I'll have butter luck with them, I was referred by a member here to them.

Where the first guy didn't even know what the kit was or anything these guys knew exactly what I had and when I said I had a CDC ducktail as well they asked if I had the third brake light... they know their stuff it seems.

The cost is more... $1600 but it seems like they do good work and know what they're doing.
