Stangmods signal tint?

I would like to say up front that i am not trying to bash anyone for their decisions but why buy the smoked turn signals and side markers when you can get the tint overlay for much cheaper? It appears to me that the smoked turns cost $100 plus the bulbs cost another $25(i think) and thats only the turn signals. If you want the rear side markers thats even more money. My question is are there and advantages to that route when you can buy the tint overlays for $25 for the turn signals and $25 more for the rear side markers?

You can get the corners off ebay for much cheaper. I've heard tint can't crack the lenses and that would look like crap, but if your going to tint just go to wal mart and do it yourself I've seen several people do this and it didn't look bad at all.

When you tint the lights, do you remove them? And is the stuff from walmart high quality? I believe 3m is good tint correct?

i took your advice and looked around on ebay. here is what i found:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Parts-Accessories_Car-Truck-Parts-Accessories__2005-2008-Mustang-Smoked-Bumper-Turn-Signals_W0QQitemZ320327338698QQddnZPartsQ20Q26Q20A ccessoriesQQadiZ2865QQddiZ2811QQadnZCarQ20Q26Q20Tr uckQ20PartsQ20Q26Q20AccessoriesQQcmdZViewItemQQptZ Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories?hash=item320327 338698&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245&_trkparms=72%3A543|65 %3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318
I like how it is just a straight smoked look. I dont like the ones that have part silver and part black, Has anyone bought frmo these people? And does it look like i will need the amber bulbs or will i be able to use my stock bulbs?

Those look good, from what I've seen quality doesn't make much of a difference just use some clear silicone or heat them in an oven to make sure that they won't leak!

As far as the wal mart tint, it may not be 3m but it works, wouldn't use it on my windows though.

I put the walmart tint on my front signals looks good but i have a black car cost me around $12 and have enough tint to do probably 50 more so if it gets yucky looking i'll just change it and if the cops yell about it i can just pull it off.

48prerunner, did you take the signals off the car to do it? And also what percentage tint did you use?

i would definitly take it off the car to do it that way you can take your time and get it right and it will probably come out better. it takes probably 5minutes if that to remove them suckers.

Posted this in Jed's install thread, but thought I would here, too. Used the $35 Ebay replacement lenses. Tinted amber lenses would probably be dimmer than doing the clear or smoked lenses w/ stealth bulbs. I wanted the reflective smoked look, instead of a dark tinted amber look.

Just put in my right side lens -- had to remove the wheel and inner well liners to snake some power cable to the battery for my audio install, so thought I'd get it done now.

Bought my bulbs through StangMods like Jed, but got the lens much cheaper than any of the traditional online stores, off Ebay, $35 w/ free shipping from seller zizalighting, have both clear and smoked:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...2BSI%26otn%3D4

Some others have stated the various other replacement lenses fit a bit loose. The ones I got are actually a tighter fit than the OEM. Fit perfect and look great.

Haven't powered them up yet (battery still disconnected for the audio install) but should work the same way as they're the same StangMods bulbs (which are also available on Ebay for less, by the way, but I did StangMods cause of their lifetime warranty).

So feel free to get the cheaper Ebay lenses, all together about $70 for the full lighting upgrade!

Wow! VaporGT, i dont know if you saw but that long link i posted was for those exact lights. I love the look and seeing them on your car makes me ready to buy them. I think i have made up my mind. I plan to do exactly what you did and buy the smoked lenses from ziza and get the lights from stangmods. Thanks for the pics

Just curious, is it legal to tint your turn signals? I know you can get smoked if you buy the bulbs, but is it legal so simply leave the stock bulbs in the amber casing and tint the casing?

man, I hate finding threads like this as those are a must have for my Alloy as the amber lenses just look out of place!

BTW Vapor, those look great!

I used the static cling tint from Auto Zone.
I removed the signals from the bumper. Made it much easier.

How legal is this mod? I live in California.

It would fit nicely with my "blacked out" theme....

I went to pepboys today and got a roll of the static cling. I did the rear side markers already and plan on doing to turn signals next weekend. I assume the rear markers are legally tinted because my moms suburban doesnt even have lights on the side but can someone please tell me if putting static cling tint on the front turn signals is legal or not? I really need to know this before i go through with tinting them.
