I don't think snow tires or tire chains look particularly good either, but when your car is a daily driver you have to outfit your car for the conditions.

Splash guards are the same kind of thing. I don't think they look that good, but having them looks better than the aftermath of the paint getting blasted with gravel and sand all winter.

If your car is a garage queen that doesn't see much road time then I guess it's a moot point.

 

I wish you could unscrew the bumper, put these (and have holes drilled for it to line-up with the screw holes in the bumpers) up there and put the screws back in. I want to get some of these so I can take my Mustang with me when I go hunting (alot of mud, dirt, and other crap), but I want to be able to take them off whenever I get back.

Are they easy to install and uninstall?

If you have an offset screw driver expect to take about 15 to 30 minutes to install or takeoff the molded splash guards.

The longer way is to jack up the car remove the rear wheels and use a regular screwdriver.

I live down a dirt road and yeah I was thinking about getting the Ford mud flaps too. If you leave them black , they tend to blend in with the tires and dissapear. They dont really look that bad I dont think. I fianlly got some Zaino and since I have used that product along with Rejex, I dont get anything on my car that doesnt wipe off easillly. So in between car washes when my car gets dusty or I get some dirt/mud splashed up behind the tires I just spray it off with a hose and give it a little dry off. The back end of my car gets real dusty from the road dust also and I just hose it off .

 

I have this on also. Installed a year before mud flaps but after the Nitto DRs deposited loads of rubber back there.

 

Where can we get the Ford molded splash guards for the front and rear of the 05-up GT (standard fender/bumpers)? I believe 5R3Z16A550BA was the part # for the rear guards, but what about the front guards?

 

I have yet to find any front moulded guards yet...I love my moulded rear guards.

 

I think most have been using the flat rubber ones on the front.

On a side note... The rear guards make great snow and slush catchers! We have wicked snow here in Seattle at the moment. (You saw it if you caught the GB vs SeaHawk game Monday.) I don't have any road slush grime on the rear panels at all! Just fantastic!

 

I had pine needle mush all over the front rocker panels due to the lack of a front splash guard. Luckily the Klasse Glaze and AIO I used helped make cleanup very easy.

 

I just wish my molded guards would get here......... I ordered them on the 20th and they're not here yet........ hopefully any day now.

 

Getting the rear guards is only half the battle. Without front guards, there's still a lot of crud that flies onto the rockers. Other than universal rubber flaps, there's no Ford manufactured molded front splash guards available on the market? That seems odd considering there's a lot more damage that can be done without front splash guards (door damage, rocker panel damage, rocks/pebbles that collect between the underbody and rocker arm) and not to mention pine needles that will fly everywhere!

 

Do you know how hard it is to install the front guards? Do I need to trim them or are they sized properly and its just a matter of drilling holes into the guards to use the existing fender screws?

 

That's one thing I love about the V6 rocker mouldings I put on my WHITE '05. Not only do they not show dirt as much as the painted ones, but they are MUCH easier to clean.

 

I will put on some splash guards on my GT, but I think they are just a bit too large for my taste. I think the Shelby mudflaps looks a lot better. Is there some way to mod. the Shelby flaps to fit the GT bumper or maybe cut the GT mudflaps to make them smaller?

The GT500 splash guards look too small to do any good.

 

Well I finally got my guards from Bowen Scarff Ford today..... and they sent me the V6 guards after I specifically told their parts guy Norman that my car is a GT- I even emailed him that too. So, I guess I'll contact them AGAIN tomorrow and get them sent back to Washington.....

Just get them from your local dealer. Even if they charge you list price, it would be better than getting jerked around by that other dealership.

And most of the time your local dealer can get parts in a few days and don't charge you shipping.
