Okay, I am getting mustang pre-buyer worries now. Would it look ridiculous to put a snowboard rack on a mustang? I realized that since I go up every weekend the mustang be a little lack on space for snowboards and luggage. Any thoughts or any solutions you have come up with? Any help/suggestions that would ease my worries. That thought of getting a shinny new 4X4 explorer is creeping back into my mind. HELP!

The back seats lay down...you don't need a rack unless you have four people in the car.

I don't think I could fit four people in the car with the rear seat backs up.

Depends on how comfortable everyone wants to be.

And if someone can fit their wife in the trunk, why can't your boards? Snowboards aren't that long, are they?

I agree, less chance of having the board slip out of your hands and have the metal edges damage the paint.

Go with the folding of the seats but if you buy a rack then I'd say get a Thule. It may cost more than say a Barrcrafters (if they're still around) but it's worth it b/c Thule sells "fit kits" so you can always just purchase the kit whenever you get a new vehicle instead of worrying about buying a whole new rack everytime. At least that's how it was 10 years ago when I last dealt with the situation. You can even get a rack for a vert.. I had one on my '92 vert when I was an instructor.

Thule is the best option! I have surf racks on my 03....here is a pic with a bike on it, mine are Yakima, but the Thule's are lighter and they have better secondary carriers such as snow board/ski racks and surfboard carriers. Good Luck! Any other questions, give me a shout!
