Well, I got my new wheels and tires installed. The new tires are so much smaller that my car dropped 5/8" of an inch.

Before ...

After ...

18" VR5S MB Motorsport Wheels are 18"x9" rims with 114mm bolt pattern and 45mm offset. The tires are BFG g-Force T/A KDW in the front and back. The front sizes are 55/45R-18 (27" tall / 769 RPM) and the rear tires are 255/55R-18 (29" tall / 717 RPM).

I got them from Discount Tire, but they really don't make anbd/or sell them anymore.

Too bad, I liked the tires you had on it before! Yeah a 55 is a tough nut to find if you're looking to go that tall. It really gave your car that old musclecar look.

The smoothies are sweet rims

Love the new rims, but the new tires need more sidewall. Car still looks great, but it looked better before. Now, get some slightly taller tires on the smoothies and oh oh oh!

Bryan I love those wheels but don't care for the tires. Maybe you will soon burn them up with the blower and your next set will have a larger sidewall.

I have to agree the Smoothies are nice but, the 35's should be at least 45's to give a little more sidewall. The website list them as 35's, your signature says 45's. I have 255/45 Nitto 555 on 18X9 Smoothies and I have little more sidewall.

I agree about the sidewalls ... However the next size up from the 285 was the 305 and they may have not fit under the fenderwell - according to Discount Tire. So I playe it safe. And yes, not that I have them on, I will probably get the 305's as soon as I burn these baby's up at the track.

Wish me luck this Sunday to test them out at Houston Raceway Park

Hey Bryan - wow what a change!

Gonna take a bit of getting used to but I am liking it!

I have the Nittos and do like 'em but the lack of finding a 285 in the right sidewall height ticks me off.....

Good luck breaking those tires in!

By the way - this pic from youur car domain page is smokin!!!!

Funny you mention that image, I JUST made it my background

BTW everyone, the car actually dtives smoother than the other wheels tires. I fully expected a rougher ride, but it was not the case

these are 305/25-20s. they just fit in. and i mean just. on flat ground, the tire sits about 1/4" more in. this pic was taken on a slope downward towards the driver's side.

my wheels have a 46mm offset in the rear (10.5" rim width). do not use a 305 if you have a lesser offset. i wanted a 55mm offset (11" width) of the weld forgestar 850s, but after weld screwed me over for 8 months i vowed never to buy a weld wheel.

I noticed you have the weight at around 52 pounds for those tires and rims. Any chance you have weighed the stock rims and tires for comparison?

no. i wish I had done it.

However, I am selling these to a friend and he has an 05 with the 17" premium wheels. I will ask him to weight them and then post the numbers

Hey Bryan. First off I want to say that your website is probably the best Mustang website by any owner. Period. The amount of detail is unreal. Everything is so well layed out. I bookmarked it. Your website shall be my inspiration.

Now to the rims. I like the new rims a lot, I feel they look better than your old rims. However, I do agree with what most have said already. The sidewall is too small. Nonetheless, its a darn sweet ride. Love the pics on your site. I can't stop looking.

The stock 17" bullitts weigh 22.1 lbs. without the tire, if it helps.
