SilverStar H13 Bulbs are Coming!

I recently inquired about SilverStar headlight bulbs for 05+ Mustangs and this is the response I got from Sylvania.

Thank you for taking the time to contact us with your inquiry. Part H13, also known as 9008, is not currently available in a SilverStar upgrade. We have received many requests for this part in a SilverStar upgrade, but we were unable to begin developing this part in a SilverStar upgrade until just recently. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) wrote into the original specification for this part that the glass capsule portion of the lamp must remain a clear quartz glass. Part of upgrading a part to SilverStar is coating the capsule with an amethyst colored enamel. NHTSA had specified that we could not do that to this part. We appealed this standard through NHTSA, resulting in a change in the wording, allowing us to finally offer a SilverStar upgrade for this part, but this part is still under development. We are hoping to launch this part sometime in the late fall to early winter timeframe.

Please do not hesitate to contact me directly if you have any other questions or require further assistance.

Sincerely,

I think that the cheaper alternatives is what was meant. Seems that some are shipping higher wattage bulbs whch can lead to some plastic / heat issues... ie... melting. Also, some of these knock-offs are lasting less than a few months before failures occur. I myself want some SilverStars in mine as soon as they are released.

So how are these better than stock...and do they have matching ones that fit the fogs?

They put out a brighter whiter light than the stock halogen bulbs and they already have the fog light bulbs out (9145ST). When I put in the fog light bulbs last year, they made my stock headlight bulbs look like a headlight on it's last leg before the battery dies. I'll be eagerly awaiting the release of the H13 SilverStars.

When I had the HIDs next to the factory fogs, it was baaad. The factory lights look soooo yellowish, I would not even turn them on!

The SilverStars look much better then the factory bulbs did.

I prefer to have bright yellow fogs, but those look nice, not exactly a HID match however.

Better than some of the junk eBay "blue" bulbs? YES! Better than a SilverStar bulb? No way in HADES!

Sending Sylvania an email asking for H13 SilverStars was of the first things I did after ORDERING my car. I was really disappointed with the response about NHTSA rule.

I'm MUCH happier now!

How much do the bulbs usually run? For headlights and fogs?

Not sure what the headlight bulbs cost but, I think I paid about 30-40 bucks for the pair of fog light bulbs. It's been a year so don't quote me. It was well worth it though, IMO.

Here is a recent pic of my Luminics headlight bulbs vs SilverStar fog bulbs. The Luminics look brighter in the pic but, the SilverStars shine brighter on the road.

I've had the Silver Star 9145ST since they first came out in my 05 driving lights and they do just great. Nice to hear they have a Silver Star for the headlights, Im currently running the Slyvania Xtra Vison H13, which are okay but the light is on the yellow side..... Just my thoughts

I had the XtraVision bulbs in before I tried out the Luminics and they were a tad disappointing. I think I'm gonna go crazy waiting on the SilverStars!
