Silverhorse Racing Billet Fuel Door
Hey everyone!
I drove down to Steeda today and bought the Silverhorse Racing Billet Fuel Door along with a few other goodies. I purchased the Satin finish in Silver with GT logo. Here are some things anyone who installs this may want to consider. Pics below if you don't want to read my installation tips.
The install took a bit of tweaking to keep the gas cap 'leash', but I believe it is worth it. The instructions basically told you to cut it off, but I wanted to keep it because it is entirely possible that i could lose it. (I am easily distracted). Because I wanted to keep the leash, I had to adjust the height of the washers or bushings that came with the fuel door. Even without the leash attached, it did not sit perfectly flush with the quarter-panel. The directions clearly let you know, minor differences in each individual vehicles may require different sized washers. I cut the plastic that came with the car (which made the job MUCH more tedious). I highly recommend having a variety of washer sizes at your side if you install this door.
One more note: Because you are working with small nuts and washers in close proximity to the gas tank with the gas cap temporarily removed, I would suggest covering the entrance to the gas tank with a cloth or cardboard. This avoids accidently flipping a washer/nut into your gas tank. This sounds silly, but it could easily happen.
With all of this said, the fit, finish, feel, and touch of the door and the way it closes is AWESOME!!!! It doesn't slam shut as the stock door, but when you push the door shut, a magnet kicks in and it 'closes itself' the last approximate 1cm. [i]
I Like it, Let me know what you guys think!
Dave

Looks Great
Does it seem to reduce the size of the opening? Will it be harder to insert the gas nozzle when filling it up? I had this problem on a door I bought for my ram, became a b**** to fill the truck up.

Dave- Thanks for posting pics and info.
I'm planning on doing this mod in the near future, but will be getting the Polished Clear Anodized finish (to match my 64W wheels).

That looks really good on your Silver car.

And for anyone that wasn't covered by our doors in brushed clear anodize, black anodized, or polished and clear anodized, we now have in stock:
Show quality chrome plated versions of both the non-lettered and GT lettered doors.
I'll get some pictures up as soon as I can. They look really nice, but are more for show cars and those that are garaged all the time. Anyone that needs to park outside regularly should consider the polished pieces since the upkeep will be a lot lower, and the anodize is better suited to acid rain, salt, etc. than the chrome.
Anyway, back to work... somebody around here wants me to finish some projects I promised a while back to everyone!

We've sold a lot to Tungsten owners, but let me see...nope, nobody has sent us a picture of it on there.. want to be first ?
Seriously, normally the tungsten owners go with the black anodize, or they go with what matches their wheels. I try to avoid making recommendations, because I know what my opinion is worth some days. Or at least the wife tells me what she thinks it's worth!!

I would also like to see Tungsten with black anodized or any other caps.

Cool, thanks Bill. It's not that I don't like to remember, it's just there are a LOT of them in our customer car folder now, too many to keep track of with everything else we're playing with right now.
