I wasn't that hot for this mod until a Red Vert rolled up on me at a stop sign and I noticed his were painted. Jumped out and went to talk to him. Really makes a diff IMO.

Just buy the Midwest Auto Gear painted ones. A lot cheaper and I think you will be happy with their product.

The inserts look good on a black car, but IMO on any other color the black mirrors stick out. Seems like Ford just went this route to save money since every car could have the same piece.

 

I prefer the fully painted look

That would be a good option for someone looking to cut costs, but getting the painted is a full paint job, not just the back side. It includes the piece by the window also so no black is visible at all.
