Steve, were you and your car at No Problem this past Saturday, Oct. 17? I think I saw your car, or one very much like it.
No mate. Car is still going through complete rebuild since last race season. Motor is done, powerlide is in, but having to make custom brackets and driveshaft to lock the GM transmission into the stang. Fuel cell build has started with return style system. Maybe another month before Wes gets to perform his magic on the rollers. When we go back to NPR, it will look quite different though...no antennae, no rear center brake light and two-tone paint. Should run quite different too...lol
Been meaning to post new pics of my hood for a while.
It's a Reflexxion hood, which I haven't seen many of. Mine is unique in that it was the original hood they showed at SEMA in '06 (on my car even), and the grill at the front of the scoop on my car is split into two openings, but all of their production hoods have a single opening. The hood comes closed, no actual opening, it's just cosmetic, but my painter opened the scoop up for me so you can actually see some of the flashy bits in my engine bay thru it.
Unfortunately it's a stamped steel hood, heavier than the stock hood, so even though I have the MRT hood strut kit installed, it only works in really hot weather. Most of the time I have to put up the prop rod.
This is the hood I am planning on getting. I would be curious on your comments on what it was like to install and or any additional modifications or parts that were needed to make it work, different hood pistons etc...
I was a Trufiber Dealer Back in the Day & Had Real Good Luck With their Products! Realize a Fiberglass Hood Will take a Lot More Bodywork to Get to Fit as Far as Gaps Etc. Vs a Carbon Fiber Hood Which is Designed to Be Bolt On Because Some Do Not Paint Them!
Here's The Kicker Some Bodyshops Will Tack on Labor Hours on Fiberglass Due To Poor Quality Ones They Have Done over the Years Just to be Covered. Cervini Has a Good Quality Product as Does Trufiber But Some Don't So When Considering Doing a Hood Make Sure Your Bodyshop is Going To Work With You & See if Hood Needs a Lot of Prep or Not. It Needs To Be Factored into Cost. Also It May Not Be a Good Idea to Get Lifts With a Non Metal Hood As It Can Cause Sag! Svopaul Had Commented on That With One of His Builds! Some Maybe Fine Some Not.
I really liked the Shaker on my old 2007 GT/CS. The dealership in Fredericksburg VA installed it before the car ever left the lot in '07. I always kept the paperwork for it since it cost $2,000 extra. If I remember right, the 'shaker' part was around $700 and the rest was labor. I included the paperwork with the car when I traded it in last year. I hope the new owner got it.
At one point i had two cars in the garage with Shakers, now just the R/T.
