Shelby Spoiler Installed - Pics In Here->

Got the Shelby spoiler painted and installed. Great mod ( a little pricey, though)

Yery Nice!

I'm planning on doing the same mod after my V6 pony gets delivered. Only a few weeks a way!

So I'm guessing the install was pretty straight forward since all of the Ford rear spoilers share the same bolt configuration.

Mounts in the same holes as the factory spoiler; comes with 2-sided tape already on the spoiler...peel and stick and bolt!

Barrett, Looks great. I can't wait for mine to come in. By the way, I just pulled the trigger on the hood and vents. Just got off the phone with your parts people.

Looks great! Is that the 3dCarbon spoiler or the official Ford one?

That's the 3d Carbon one. They are pretty much identical, except the 3d carbon uses 2 of the existing bolts and double sided vinyl adhesive tape and the OEM uses 4 bolts and no tape.

I should have my 3d carbon one in the mail today and will have it on this afternoon. I went with the 3d Carbon as it is cheaper, and you can order it prepainted which is great.

No, it is the Ford one. I work at a Ford dealer. When people ask for info, I think they would like accurate information, so please don't venture a guess if you don't know.

The Ford spoiler also has two-sided tape in addition to the four studs.

Hmm looks identical to the 3d Carbon one I just installed. Looks great on your car. Love mine! Like I said they are identical in every fashion except the Shelby has 2 more bolts and I think costs 150$ more plus ya need to get it painted.

Either way, looks great.

KC on these forums can get either one for you at a discount. Call him up or send him an email for his current hotsheets and prices.

I love it..why does it need tape if it has 4 studs??

The stock Mustang spoiler also has tape even though it uses 4 studs. The tape on these GT500 spoilers is on the outer edges though, likely to prevent water from readily becoming trapped in large quanities underneath the spoiler. I imagine the tape on the edges also helps reduce vibrations on the edges of the spoiler away from the bolts as it is in direct contact with the paint, and given enough time cause wearning in these areas or produce a harmonic vibration.

To answer (hopefully) all the questions...

First off, there is tape in the middle as well as on the ends (TexaStang with more misinformation here ). I believe it is to prevent direct contact between the spoiler and deck lid, which would likely rub/vibrate etc.

GT wheels are not cheap. Look here: http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts...tKeyField=7617
I did get a discount; still expensive though...

Visibility with the Shel spoiler is great...

Thanks for all the positive feedback!
