Rocker stripes?

My car is pretty conservative I know, but it's my personal ride. Not a racer, just used for driving around with the top down (I live on the sunny side of Washington State - not much rain here).

I don't think I have seen any GT's with just rocker stripes. They usually have the whole deal. But, I'm not crazy about front to back racing stripes. I've been on the fence with this decision since I bought the car in '05. I may just leave it as is. I'd hate to spend the money, put them on and then peel them off because I wasn't happy. Whadda you think?

Yes, if I did them they would be black

Maybe I can Photoshop some stripes on the pic and see what it looks like. I looked around on the internet last night but could not find a single photo of a GT with just the rocker stripes.

Here's a picture of mine when it was pretty much stock. Sorry it's a crappy picture but you can get the idea what they might look like on your car.

Hey Northwest,

Your car is an excellent candidate for a side stripe down the side rockers only, I would use black. The silver color of your car would be understated and it has clean smooth lines.

I would have MUSTANG GT in the door area on the sides. I am going to get some pics from another computer of some I did on my 05 Mustang GT that had running ponies in the front also for you to look at. I'm on a netbook right now and don't have access to those.

Stock and understating is always in my opinion the best way to show your car and I am a big believer in understating a stang. Your car is sweet.

Hey Northwest,

I was in same boat as you. The Lemans stripes are hard for a vert to look good. I thought about adding rocker stripes for awhile now. I went with BSM rocker stripes purchased in july and just put them on. Now I don't know why I waited. Gotten a ton of compliments in the past week. My car is black with red interior, so i went with red stripes.
I'll post pictures on monday. Bad thing is I have stock rear wing the car after adding a cdc chin and the stripes makes the wing look awkward, so its time to get a GT500 spoiler. It never ends

That's a tuff one... Your car looks great with those wheels. I always like some kind of graphics on my cars. With that said, on my 06 LL I couldn't come up with anything that I felt improved the looks. With my 08 Vapor I did some custom stripes up high.
Are you thinking vynl, or going straight to paint? The thing you mention about not wanting to pay for them and then maybe taking them off, that's a great deal really. In vynl, it's a small investment, and you can make it go away if you don't like them.
I think your car looks very clean and sharp as is, but also know how wanting change is good.
If I may be so bold, I woud suggest changing out front corner turn signals with smoked or clear lenses.

Dunno. Looks clean as is. Red would look great w/ the top down, not sure about w/ the top up. I'd have to see a pic w/ the top up to think about a black rocker stripe. I'm not feeling it now.

I'm in the same boat NW. I already have the Black fading rocker strips in a box at my house and I'm not sure if it will look good on my car.

Thanks for the comments and pics guys

If I can find black stripes that just say GT at the front end, I might just go for them. If you can suggest a good source for them, I would appreciate it. I have a look on the net myself.

working on it for you, don't use the oem stripe pattern for that model year, you want the wider one similar to the Shelby GT Style, I will send pictures of mine tonight. Most stripe shopes can do these. I'll get on it after I get home at 5:00pm CST

A couple of suggestions to do in black

Okay I'm going to post a couple of suggestions if I can upload the pic files, these are of my 05 GT which is black, In your case, black would look best. These stripes on the side were reworked and the running ponies went on the front quarter pannel and MUSTANG was spaced out in the middel of the door. I like the wider Shelby Style stripe rather than the oem type. I sold this car two years ago, had two people fighting over it within 15 minutes of parking it on Wal-Mart. Here we go.....

First of all, like others have said, it is your car do what YOU want with it. If you decide on stripes, in my opinion, black stripes are too much of a contrast. When you have the top down, the red seats provide enough contrast and interest. With the top up, the black top, takes car of this. I think a black rocker stripe would detract from this and seem tacked on.

My suggestion is a more subdued charcoal or tungsten type color. Just a couple shades darker than your paint and I think you will have a good classy look.

have fun whatever you decide.

Can someone do a chop and show me what the fading rocker stripes would look like on my car?
