I'k like to see a pic of the engine right above where the scoops are located? I wonder if there would be a way to fabricate some sort of tube that would go down to the air filter. Or better yet, have the air filter just under and behind the scoop but I'm not sure if that's possible

You know it already does that, right ?

Look Here at RKSport.com and click the hood image (upside down) to see the flow path

Just arrived today. And it is functional! B) The outlet is perfectly located over the top of the CAI box. This was just the pre-fit check. It still needs painted and fit though.

Thanks to you and your link I ordered the hood last Friday and it should be here this week. From the picture of the inside of the hood , it looked like it should fit right over the CAI box , glad to hear it did. The guy at FK Sport told me that the hood did have holes for the windshield washers , is this true ? How is the general fit of the hood and does all the stock hardware fit up correctly ?

Yes it does have the holes for the washer jets and the fit was perfect. The only problem that I ran into was the hood latch attachment bolts were too long. I had to shorten them but no big deal. Mine is getting painted on Tuesday. I am getting stripes painted on the car at the same time. Will post pictures when it is done. Hopefully I will have it back in time for the opening day of our local track so I can post 1/8 mile times then also.

Thanks for the info ... I called RK Sport back this morning and it didn't ship on Friday , but they said it would ship today. He said it usually takes about 5 days to the east coast , but becuase of the bad weather out there I probably won't get it till next week. That's still a lot quicker than if I had decided to wait for the CDC Shaker system and the more I see this one the better I like it ... Can't wait to see your pictures after it's painted with the stripes

Ok, question for ya. I posted pics of this hood a long time ago but there was 1 thing the company could not answer. When it rains (or you wash the car), water enters the scoop opening and follows the path to the opening above the filter. I do not see any drain holes which tells me the water will the flow on top of the air filter, which, then gets stinked into the throttle body.

Since you have the hood do you see any drain holes or what prevents this from happening?

I am still torn between this hood and the CDC shaker. I know the CDC Shaker is a better setup (true CAI and drain ports for water) but I do like the looks of the bigger scoop on this hood.

Again I ask this question... What keeps the water out of the Shaker System? Then maybe I can look to see if there is something on this hood that will accomplish that on this hood. I don't know what to look for. At worst I guess I will have to fab up my own CAI box. No big deal to me.

Uh-oh.... I'm not that good at engine work boys- is this a big problem? I really like/want this hood, just for the aesthetic value and functionality, but i don't have the slightest idea how to build my own CAI. will this beautiful hood ruin my engine?

I was wondering the same thing , however it didn't stop me from ordering the hood. If you have the stock air box which is covered on top and draws air in from the side , then it shouldn't be a problem. However with CAI systems , which use open conical filters , it does look like it will drain onto the filter. When you're just washing the car , you could cover the filter with a plastic bag till you're done. However driving in the rain , or in our case down here a hurricane , I do have concerns. On my last fox body mustang , I had an 80mm ProM which also had an open conical filter and Steeda's hood which had louvers directly above it , so I had the same problem. I attached a piece of plastic to the holes for the stock air box that covered the top of the filter , which kept most of the water off it. I have the Steeda CAI which has a heat shield and was thinking I could attach a top cover to it ... rhoover2 , is the path to the opening a smooth one , or is there some lip at the edge that might hold the water back ? If so them maybe we could drill some holes before the opening to allow the water to drain ... adrenalin , where are the drain ports in the CDC Shaker ? Also , in the pictures of it I've seem it's setup to mate to the top of the stock air box , are you going to have any problems mating it to a CAI ? Ones that have a heat shield , I guess you could cut a hole in the side to attach it to. However I've seen some that don't have the heat shield and I'm not sure how you would attach it ...

I am planning on fabbing a top to my CAI box that will allow the air to flow over the top (kind of like a tent) and divert the water to the bottom of the box where it will drain.

Can one of you guys weigh the RK hood? Is it fiberglass? And how does its weight compare to the stock aluminum hood?

I didn't weigh it but it is fiberglass and it can't compare to the weight of the stock aluminum hood. It is heavier though.

Stock is supposed to be 25 lbs. The RKSport hood is fiberglass, and weights abotu ~40lbs. I will balance that with a lighter battery all will be good

I call RK Sport today to make sure my hood had shipped , so while I had them on the phone I asked about the water problem. They told me that the hood was designed to drain the water towards the front end and out the latch area. He said that no water should drain towards the opening. When I get mine I guess I'll check it out by covering the filter , just in case , and squirt some water in and see where it drains ...

Thanks for the info Steve. I am still going to fab the "tent" to be extra sure. I did shine a light into mine and there looked to be some kind of baffle in there but I couldn't tell what it was for. Good info!
