Whats the difference other than the price? Are they the same exact size? From little pictures, i cant tell.

Any help is appreciated. I really like the style.

You need to use the search engine a little more as all of these hoods have threads here in the appearance section. The Cali Dream is nothing like the TruFiber hoods. TruFiber makes three 68 style Shelby hoods, the GTS which is more angular like the current '08 Shelby KR hood, the GTS-2 which is patterned after the Dream Car Factory (DCF) hood and has more flowing lines. Finally the Venom which is a current '08 Shelby style KR for the GT-500 body style. Cervini also makes a current KR style hood for the GT, V6 as well as Race Car Factory. Unfortunately Race Car Factory sold their molds to a Florida company but ony the '67 style Shelby hood for the GT, V6 and the GT-500. Their '68 style hood will only work on the GT-500 front facia. From the owner of the Florida company there will be no attempt at making a '68 style Shelby hood for the GT, V6. I personally think that statement from them was a bit premature as the GT, V6 market is a lot larger than the GT-500 market.

Anyway look through the threads in the exterior appearance section for the last month or so as all the above mentioned hoods have been discussed in their own threads. Each thread also mentions availability and pricing.

i think there is some comfusion.

RKSport Cali Dream - $625

VS.

Trufiber Mustang GTR Ram Air Hood Mustang 2005+ - $400
http://www.lmperformance.com/18888/73.html

THese look very similiar...... maybe i am missing something.

I have searched and searched and seached the internet, alot of mustang forums and this site as well using every combination of words i could. I see a lot of pics of the RKsport and a few of the Trufiber and most look identical. I have not seen a single thread or comment in my searches about the differences between these two - either the quailty, thickness, specs, anything.....

did Trufiber buy their design? steal it? modify it and made it better? Did they raise the center peice? I just want to know before i order one on monday.

Well i ordered it today. Should be here in a few weeks (they aren’t available till Feb 1st).

I will update this with any info. I really hope trufiber won’t let me down. This is my first aftermarket hood, so if it turns out bad, this will probably be the last. Local body shop quoted me 300 (best case scenario) for paint, prep and install - and up to 600 if its crap and needs a lot of work. he works pretty cheap and has down all my other body mods, and all have been excellent.

I am praying this turns out good, as it will be the final piece of my car to be done to the exterior.

feel free to check out my mustang page at:
http://www.mymustangsite.com/forge

Keep in mind the old pictures aren’t showing the Cervini side scoops and window scoops. I think those with this hood should look killer.

I ordered my GTR hood back at the end of December and was told the same thing about the arrival date. The guy I spoke w/ at Trufiber said last week in January or first week in February. All the hoods that I've seen from them look good.I hope it turns out good for both of us.

I would be careful about buying from trufiber. I know of several people that bought their hood and it was bowed. they will not back up their product from what I have seen. I went with Cervini.

ya i read your post, you seem to be in the minority as for having issues. Most people are reporting GREAT fitment.

I also know with any custom part, nothing is guaranteed to fit perfect every time (particularly with fiber hoods). Looks like they tried to work with you. I understand frustration paying money to send a new hood. I thought about that before buying it, i have had issue with cervinis in the past. Same deal, i paid half the shipping for the new part after they couldnt figure out why the first one wouldnt fit. I just hope this one fits right the first time.

Thanks for your post tho, havent heard of issues like that before. Atleast i am prepared now.

question: did u use hood struts on the hood?

Well the body shop got my hood yesterday. Shipping was great, he said the hood looked **** good. He said it was one fo the better fiber hoods he has seen, but still would need a little prep work to make it perfect. We havent test fitted it yet as he is finishing a project before i can get in.

I will post up some pics and more info once we get it test fitted early next week.

Good to see yours worked out. I liked the TF hoods. Thats why I orded it first. But it is B/S to pay shipping on something that is not fixable. Blocking and a few pin holes no bid deal. But there is no way to hide a mid fender bow unless you have a big Fat Arsed girl sit on your hood all day while at the show.

I got mine yesterday and my paint guy said that it was the best shape he'd seen an after market hood come in. I thought it looked pretty good myself. I feel a lot better now that its here and in good shape. I was impressed how wel it was packaged.

Just make sure you test fit the hood really good, if there is any issue, contact them before you do any work on it.
