I hope this isn't the wrong place to post this, but I was wondering how much it should cost to repaint a mustang. I know a cheap repaint job would look bad, so I was wondering how much I should expect to pay to repaint one. There's a guy who is selling one that's white, but I don't really want white, so I was thinking if he sells it to me, that I would repaint it. Any advice would be appreciated.

I was quoted a ball park figure of $6,700 going from black to green, stripping the factory paint, removing all attached parts (bumpers/fenders/doors/mirrors/hood/trunk/glass/lights/ect), individual painting, but leaving the engine compartment in black.

if you want it done right, you will have to go the route George is considering.
the more parts taken off the car, the better the results, = more $$$
Your best bet is to wait a few months rather than pay a couple of thaosand dollars to change the color.

What's wrong with white? I think the white could be awesome with painted shelby stripes. Just about any color would transform that car.

Changing color falls into the custom paint job category. To be done right, the cost would be too expensive. Supposing it would be a daily driver, the car simply does not merit such expense.

Painting a new car, unless you have a LOT of money to spare, is not really a good way to go. You'll never get a cent of that back. And you'd be lucky to get a good (not even a great) paintjob for under 5 grand. I would do either one of two things... wait and find a car in the color you want for a lot less than painting the white one, or get the car and keep it white. If you keep it white, you could do vinyl or painted stripes or something to that effect so that you wouldn't have a plain white car. Painting a pair of Shelby stripes on a white car would change about 25% of the car to a color of your choice, cost you just $1500-$2000, and also add some value to the car.
