why is this gap between rear wheel and wheel well still an issue for '05? I know this was discussed ad nauseum with the Fox platform, but why no fix? Is this why everyone is hot for 18-20" wheels?

It doesn't show as much with the black bodies, but with lighter colors, it looks like the Grand Canyon, IMHO !!........Ford engineers are you reading/listening to us??!!

Look at a Nissan Z and the wheel wells are nice and tight, for comparison.

Personally I like the wheel/tire look just the way it is....including the clearance. 18" wheels aren't going to change anything in regards to height unless bigger (taller) tires are also added. I think that the tires that only have in the vicinity of 1/2" - 1" gap clearance look too modern for my tastes....but I'm from the 70's muscle car era.

Maybe, get some new springs and lower it an inch or so is the answer?

yea but why not offer the larger wheel or lower the car? Seems that the consensus prefers the less space which is why I don't understand that they wouldn't make the change.

That's what the aftermarket is for.

Ford has decided that all of there cars will have clearance for snow tire chains. This requires the huge gap. Personally I think on the Mustang they should chunk that rule and do it like the BMW M3 which has a perfect clearance.

No need to buy new springs, just cut the stock ones, . I have always thought ford builds them with to much gap, non the less it is easy to fix, no cost

On my car, when the passenger door is opened it just barely misses hitting the curb top, so I'll leave it the stock ride height.
