I'm planning on painting the rear panel between the taillights black, but I'd like to see what it would look like first. Has anyone with a MG done this?

Not painted, but I installed a Vinyl panel. I love it. I'll try and post a pic later today.

I am thinking about doing that with the blackout tail lights as well. That would complete the look, IMO.

I just did a blackout on my car about an hour ago. Did not take to long. It say I need to wait for 24 hour to let all the little bubble fade out. But here is a picture of it.

Yours had the hood painted black too right? .... I wonder it would look weird or unfinished if the back were done but not the hood or sides or something else.

I tried the one from Ebay a couple weeks ago. It did not go well. The center was not cut large enough, so I tried to trim it, but I went a little too large, and then found out the hole for the medalion was not centered anyway.

Oh well, I know a guy who can do it for me for probably less than $50. I spent $20 just for that stupid vinyl piece. :bang:

yea the hood was painted. I think if you do the rear blackout you need to also do something to the hood.

Yea. I got it from the guy on ebay. I'm waiting on the tiny bubbles to fade out now. Says it will take about 24 hour in warm enviroment. If the bubbles fadeout like it says. It will be perfect.

I used the guy from Ebay. Mine came out great. I did have one bubble I missed in the upper left area. But that was my fault. It is pretty small though, and you can't see it in thepicture.

I will take the other side of this discussion. I think you can do just the back if you do it in flat black. For me, when you do it that way it matches the grill in front which is also flat black. I did end up putting flat black stripes on my hood but I think your car would look fine with just the tail light panel blacked out. Not sure about that gloss black though...
