I know there are threads talking about different axle back exhaust systems but I was curious if the people who have seen/heard a variety of them, if they could rank them on how loud they are and the level of drone emitted? I bought the SLP Loudmouth pipes and they were too loud for my liking. Especially while on the highway and slightly taping the gas I would hear that drone that made my ears feel they were underwater and poping. I put the stock mufflers back on after a week. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Flowmaster, Steeda, Magnaflow, Bassani, JBA, MAC, Borla, Roush, Saleen....

I dont really hear drone from my JBA's...
But then again I had a BBK off-road H with Flowmaster Amer. Thunders on my 97, now thats drone!! The JBA setup in terms of drone is nothing compared to that.

I have the Flowmaster American Thunder Axle-backs and love them. Not too too loud but more aggressive.

SLP Loudmoths here. Great system with a different sound. ONLY drawback is cold starts. Very loud and don't even think about reving the motor until it warms up. That thing will pop so darn loud you'll think you just snapped your axel in two. It's actually scared me a few times.

I've got a Saleen. The exhaust on that thing sounds awesome. It's really not that loud but it has a very nice sound to it, especially low in 2nd gear.

I just installed the Flows last w/e. I was a little disappointed in how much drone there was b/t 1500 and 2K while in 4th and 5th under moderate accel. I don't know if they are the answer for you either.

However, I started a thread about it under the GT Tech & Performance Forum

Based on the much appreciated responses, it sounds like a CAI will help improve the sound and performance, and decrease to almost eliminate the drone. So that has me excited about looking at either the K&N or MAC CAIs, as they supposedly, don't need a tune (of course there are further gain with a tune).

We'll see.
