You might want to also check these guys out. I just got my 10" stripes last week, fast shipment and the 3M Vinly looks good on the paper. I just need to install them one weekend soon!

Hey Julie! My car is the first one in the "Customer photos" on the Baltimorestreetmods.com website. It takes a lot of patience if you plan on doing it yourself. But the product is very good and the owner, Rob, is very helpful if you have any questions. That and his instructions on self installing are great.

So, these are really a good product? How is the fit and finish. They are half the price of the same kit from Bob White.

Duh, nevermind I just realized you said you haven't installed them yet.

Has anyone else ordered their stripes from there?

Hmmm....click click order order.

I ordered mine from www.graphic-express.com. A detailing shop tried to install a hood stripe that spanned the centerline ridge, and ruined the decal trying to get the creases and large bubbles out. To their credit, they custom cut new decals using their own "guaranteed" material and failed TWO MORE TIMES!! I called it quits after that, and am scheduled next week to have my hood stripe all painted on. Please note the detail shop is well respected and has some complex graphic decal installs to their credit. Who knows what other factors can explain the failed attempt on my car?

Several forum members have had successful installs through shops or doing it themselves, but going with thicker material seems to be the key to success.

Not true about the thicker material. 2 mil is what should be used for automotive applications. 3mil and thicker are normally not recommended, especially for curves.

Let me guess, when they tried installing the stripes they were putting them on wet. Unless the stripe was cut with a contour to compensate for the angles in the hood you can't apply them wet. You need to apply the decal dry. This way you can slightly stretch it into place. If you put it on wet, in order for both ends of the hood to line up you end up 1/2" off center near the middle and that's where that crease/bubble issue starts.

My car is also on the baltimorestreetrod site, having formerly used their vinyl to stripe my car before I went ahead and painted them on. I have to say, the vinyl from Rob is very thick. It was hard to work with and it also scratched easily. Just a couple washes, and you could see scratches in the vinyl. I wouldn't recommend that site. I would go with graphics express or with bob white. Although, the best thing is to have a shop do it... they'll supply their own vinyl and will probably be better than what you get on-line.

Just a little more insight on this. When I worked at a sign shop we bought 100 yard rolls of the 3mil calendared vinyl, which is used in most signs. Buying by the roll resulted in a price of approx $3.00 a yard. 2 mil vinyl, made for automotive use ranges from $10.00 a yard up to $60.00 a yard depending on whether or not it is a specialty film. Some people want bigger profits so they sell the cheaper vinyl. It is hard to work with on curves and scratches easily. 2 mil is perfect for contours and rivets.

dittos. Rob is a great guy. 3M vinyl. the baltimore kit is complete. i had extra material. read the online instructions first.

rob gives you both the cut-out for the front lic. plate or another stripe option of no frt. lic. plate. he gives you a convertible option and a few extra pieces that came in handy for me. one thing, my windshield washer holes did not line up. i should have requested "no washer" cut-out in hindsight. i am not running my windshield washer nozzles anyway even though i painted them white to match my stripes.

take your time, follow the instructions and things will work out fine. i goofed and pulled the stripes off a couple times here and there. layed them down again and they look fine.

i got my rocker panel stripes from graphics-express. they are terrific too. i read that autotrim design is also good. i almost went with them but down to the bottom of the bumper and the rear spoiler parts were not part of the kit. they could be added though.

autotrim design has an eBay shop too. i think the bidding starts off at $129.99

Julie, i would definitely recommend searching the mustang source site for "rally stripes."

there are a lot of different choices for you other than color. there are 8", 9", 10" and 12" sttripe widths. there might even be more widths to choose from?

on top of this, there are different spacings between the rally stipes- 1", 1.5", 2", 4", etc.

read carefully what each place uses for their width. i think graphic-express uses 1.5" others use 1" or 2".

look through the numerous "rally stripe" threads and chose what looks best to you. many ppl are undecided on what width stripes to get as well as what spacing to run between the stripes until they see many pics and choices.

for others, to see their color car and the stripe color they are thinking of on it is a great help. this link helps for that.

Got mine from baltimore street mods and I put mine on myself.
It is very difficult if you have not done them before. Let me know if you run into problems and I will try to help.

Those look pretty good. I have the same color car too. What was difficult about it?

Do you really think they should be installed dry? (per adrenalin's recommendation)

rally stripes are installed wet. wet car, wet on top and bottom sides of stripes.

applying rally stripes is time consuming. measuring the centerline of the car and taping off the center was the hardest part for me. everything else was simple. when actually applying the stripes, it's just getting up enough nerve to know you are not going to screw it up and just follow the instructions to a T. since it was my first time, it all boiled down to confidence.

to me it's like jumping off a tall diving board at the swimming pool. you are not going to die. you just have to step off. that is easier said than done. but the rush after you did it is great. just like after jumping off that high diving board, you feel a sense of accompishment and pride.

adrenaline knows what he is talking bout. i would trust his word with regard to the single wide mach 1 type stripe that goes over the center line of the hood. note: adrenaline's "dry application" does not apply to dual rally stripes.
