speculation of course
Ford engineers have mentioned in the past the partial arrangement of open holes was to funnel air more directly in the direction of the radiator, rather than letting it diffuse over the larger grille opening.

It would be interesting to see if there is any noticable effect, which I would doubt, given the number of aftermarket grilles out there with more openings.

The change does look very nice!

Yes I cut it from the back.
I did hand paint using a bottle of the touch up paint and the supplied brush.
I don't mind if anybody copies it, heck, that's what these forums are all about! Getting ideas and passing around help to one another

My initial reasoning behind getting an all open grill was to force more air into here...

Little did I know it was going to turn out so nice!!!!!

I really like the grille treatment but I'm starting to appreciate the wheels you have on there

I love the attitude it gave the car. I was actualy supised how well everything flows with eachother...the chin spoiler, the grill, the wheels, the mirrors, the rear spoiler and being lowered. Now I'm just waiting to receive the SHR lower grill inserts(paint to match), the hood pins, and the SHR quarter window louvers.

that is about the best looking grille Ive seen to date- Nice!

any more noticeable hood shake at highway speeds due to all the extra air coming in?

I would definitely guess so

after ditching my fogs when I switched to the CDC black billet grill, my coolant temp gauge runs at least 3 to 6 degrees cooler on the highway depending on the weather

Not a whole lot more, but now that more air is pushing in there, I have the Shelby hood pins on the way

Thumbs up

Kooldawg6 - that looks fantastic and you just had to come on here and start my mind spinning with ideas Don't mean to hijack your thread, but you definitely started something here! You inspired me to do something similar to the left and right portions of the lower grille. It took me well over 2 hrs just for one side, and it still needs sanding. It's far from perfect, but since it's an area of the car that doesn't get much up close scrutiny I'm satisfied so far. I'll tackle the other side next weekend - this wore me out and my back is killing me!

I hear ya on the time consuming part! I spent about 4 hours cutting and sanding! So now you got me wanting to open up my bottom ones as wellI have the SHR lower inserts on there way which are open and I plan on painting so why not open the others up as well!

OK, I recognize this is an old thread now, but I had started a different thread asking if anyone had painted their stock grille.....and someone kindly posted a link to this thread. So, kooldawg6, if you're still subscribed to this, curious if you have any tips on getting the paint to adhere and also how it's held up two years later?

So you just hand brushed clear on the front?

I may do this to the GT grill....

I wonder if the higher flow means more hood lift at higher speeds?
