So since the headlight covers cut way down on the lights at night, I am going to skip the center-fog mounted grill (even though I still love it) - for driving at night, I like the fogs spaced out for better coverage.

Now - a really good guy from the Lauderdale Mustang CLub hooked me up with a piece of grill material he used on his gray 05 and mounted himself in the lower grill area, so it screens the lower two opening there and protects against road debris hitting the radiator. Looks good!

So he had an extra piece and hooked me up - because the pattern on the grill MATCHES the grills in the California Dream hood exactly.

So I was toying around with when I was going to install it and did a photochop to get an idea how it would look - (A) - I'd like to hear what people think. (B) Looking at the front end, I also toyed around with an idea I recently had to make the front of the car a bit more sinister - delete the Pony emblem. I believe Street Scene makes a grill in black that matches the original and deletes the Pony? (also comparing the one I think it is which is like $80 to the center mount grill $200+, that's what I need right now cause I can't be spending big bucks on the DK II for a while)

Included a chop of that as well.......

DK II as it stands currently

Then both chops.....

Deleting the pony emblem for that mean look:

The lower silver mesh: :notnice:

Reason is it takes your eye away from the hood and headlights. It's a menacing hood, especially in black, and the other silver just detracts from that. IMHO etc.

The lower grill would prolly fit in if it was painted or powder coated black. I agree, the bright lower grill takes the eyes away from your "show piece" hood. BTW, your car looks fantastic!!

If you do want to keep the pony, instead of deleting it you could give it a black chrome look - spray with a transparent black or buy a replacement piece that is done that way.

Hmmmm - great input so far!!
So far if I do install the lower grill, I will paint it black.

(While claybarring the car, I just noticed earlier that the CDC chin spoiler sits on the lip in front of the plastic grill piece down there that I would have to pull out to install - which means I may not even try.........)

As for the Pony, the more I see it without it, the more I like it......
I do plan on switching out the Cobra center caps on my wheels for the tribar/Pony ones I have in my garage so there will still be some horsies on there.....

Diamonblue - where you at in SoFla?

Thanks for the all input so far people!

(Kev - anything on the house yet????)

I see them now! Delete the pony, but no lower grill...it definately distracts you from the hood.

I see you are from Florida, with that being said you stated the black headlight covers cut way down on the useable light at night! That's why the covers are illegal. With the State of Florida raising ticket prices again this year, it makes me wonder why spend the money on illegal equipment, then risk a ticket and, if you are involved in a crash, risking the possibility of a civil suit because you had illegal equipment on your car. That would cost a boat load of money just to hire a lawyer, not to say anything about your insurance company not covering your claim due to the illegal equipment. Happy thought. huh?

I've heard it and seen it too many times. Then they question is asked, "Why is it legal to sell the headlight and taillight covers?" First of all, it is not legal to sell them, but MVD doesn't enforce the law because it is only a misdemeanor, they don't have the people to check all the stores and, the State's Attorney doesn't want to waste their time with those cases. Furthermore, every package has the disclaimer,"May not be legal for street use. For Show purposes only. Check local laws and ordinances."

It's your choice of course, but with 80,000 plus lawyers in Florida looking to make a living by taking you hard earned money from your pocket and putting it into theirs, I'll forget the illegal stuff.

Besides, they don't give you better mileage or make your car go faster at the track.

The chops show a lot of ugly radiator showing through. Paint (or powdercoat) anything you do to the front black. If you want more "open" front why not swithch out to a CDC front?? They look great.

Ever have one of those ideas that seems great in your head but not so much when conceptualized visually?

[attachmentid=36375][attachmentid=36376]Got a CDC front aggressive chin spoiler and it opened up the airflow under the bumper by 50%. Had to grill it Bought some powdercoated mesh off the internet (forgot where) and WHALLA PROTECTION!!! Also added a personal touch, what ya think? Works great. Stops BB sized pebbles. maybe even smaller

What do you mean Jeff?
Which chop?? Causre the two with anything silver showing down there isn't the radiator - that's me dropping in the silver grill the guy gave me...... and I already have a CDC classic chin spoiler... ????

Silverado - pretty nice man! How did you mount that??

Paint the grill black. If you have the GT emblems on the side and trunk of the car, then I say the pony stays too. Remove the pony only if you are planning to debadge the car completely. the ride looks sweet btw.

P.S - why do u still have those ugly organge turn signals? can't u tint them or something so that they dont stick out like a sore thumb?
