I sent my e-mails to GoodYear, Cooper and BFG.
Are there any news on the RWL tires from any company?

Very Cool! The First Company to do this will get the biggest bang for the buck!

Beaten To Death But..........

Looks like this is a dead deal for now - wonder if with the Challenger coming out, they would go with a RWL tire. Wishful thinking but if they did - that might get the ball rolling.

Maybe I missed it somewhere, but has anyone tried using the paint pens made specifically for tires?

What I'd really like to see are red-line tires. Although I'm embarrassed to say, I don't remember which year Stangs had 'em...

They were definitely a '65/66 option that came with the K-code 271 hp 289. Not sure about 67/68's though.

I plan on doing it, but I have to get the KDW's first . Maybe for Christmas??? My wife doesn't really dig the idea of new tires so soon, she thinks my stock tires are "perfectly fine". It's not the kind of mod I can hide very well, y'know? (Like the others...hee, hee!)

I would like to get some wheels and tires like these from the 1970 Mach 1 and Boss

Attachment 7716

the tires only come in 15" and 16" and the AFS Wheels

Attachment 7715

come in 17" for '99 to '04 Mustang and 18" for '05-'07.

Anyone out there figured out how to make this retro look happen?

You could try the FRPP Mach1 wheels in 17x8" from CJPonyParts (part # W54K, $510/set of 4) and the Goodyear Eagle GT II RWL tires in size 255/60SR17 from TireRack ($408/set of 4), but BEWARE: these tires are only meant for speeds UP TO 112 mph (speed rating S).

Maybe for show this could be a potentially great-looking setup, but I wouldn't drive using those tires.

I think the paint pen I mentioned or something called a MeanStreak permanent marking stick is the only way you'll get white letter tires unless you want to change the tire diameter. Which would make you have to change your speedo settings.

The 255/60/17's mentioned above would require you to change those settings. Stock tire diameter is 27.2". Those are 29".
