Poll: Cam Cover Color ??

OK, I modified my shaker thanks to Leo and exgto. Part of my intention was to be able to show off more of the engine. So, question for all of you regarding having my cam covers powder-coated: one color of finish should I go with?

Chrome? (match the blower and misc. accessories)
Blue? (match the car and Vortech clamps)
Or something else?

Tom, blue with flames, and then put some braided hoses in there . I think Hireman paints them. I am going to go with that theme myself since it rolls with our color.

Car is looking awsome, you digging the center fogs more now?

on that car- blue seems the only option to me

nice!

besides, the blue *kinda* reminds me of the GT(40)... although the DOHC covers are way more impressive than our skinny little covers.
if not blue, black might be a bit easier to keep clean- anything looks better than raw aluminum(actually in a pre-05 spec I read, they said these were magnesium...we'll see if they turn grey/black in a few years)

I voted blue also. Too much chrome is a bad thing. Blue would fit in really good IMO.

On your car there's really no other choice but blue.

Looking really good Tom, you should be proud of the work you've done. I lean towards the blue in your case, because it picks up the blue hose clamps nicely. The Chrome look would look nice two, but my vote is blue.

PS - taking the cam covers off is a bit of a chore. If you get new cam covers as I did, remember to notch your driver's side cover to clear your s/c belt. I forgot and had to remove the cover a second time

Tom, this design on blue (white ghosted flames). Couldn't find the blue ones I am thinking of but this is the same design from Hireman.

Or even this design on the covers.

My first thought was the FRPP crinkle Blue also. BUT, now that I see the whole tamalli (and it is hot), I voted Chrome. Re look at it, the Blue would be Buried, and Hidden. Even you dressed it up Hireman Style. Think Chrome would really bring out all the other work you've done under there.
JMHO.

Sure, as long as he gets some ceramic coated shorties or LT's. But, with the rusty, cast iron manifolds, the chrome will only attract attention to the manifolds... at least to me it will.

OK guys, thanks for all of your input. I am really, really partial to chrome........ BUT, I don't want to buy new, chrome plating is expensive, and I'd rather powdercoat than paint; so I stopped by a local factory today that does industrial powdercoating and looked at color samples. The owner recommended strongly that I don't do their "chrome" powdercoat because it will show any and all imperfections and is not very durable. But, he did show me several shades of blue and one of them looks killer.... so, blue it is! He's got a new type of blue that looks awesome and is very, very durable he says.

Here's the cool part- he's done a set of '05 covers before...... I asked him how much he'd charge me to do both covers including prep work, the coating, etc. and he said, "oh, around $40, maybe $50 max". So WTH, for $50 I'll get some nice powder coated covers!! I hope to get them to him this week and have them back on the car early next week.

If the work turns out as well as his other projects and as well as the '05 he's done previously, and his price is what he said it will be, I'll post his company's info for all of you.

Oh lastly, we talked for a while about cars.... he is building a Factory Five cobra replica, with (get this) a turbo-charged 4 cylinder. I kinda laughed until he showed me his dyno sheet and pictures; his turbo is variable by turning a **** and his car has 3 settings: 350 rwhp, 550 rwhp, and 950 rwhp (26psi boost!) ! And the car will weigh around 2500 pounds, should run 8's in the quarter pretty easily!
