I really want to get my blades fully polished and was wondering if anyone has gotten it done or at least inquired about it. Where do you go to get it done,and will they put clear coating on afterwords??

 

I'm sure any rim refinisher can probably do that with a clear coat.

But are you sure you want them polished. The painted portion is what really shows off the shape/indentation..... I'm not sure if it would look too blingy with all polished :scratch:

 

Just a little FYI. The reason they are painted is because the manufacturer of the rims cannot polish the center section properly. Too many flaws show up, that is why they are painted. The problems have existed since the rim first went into production.

 

how about the vert on the cover of the 06 sales brochure ? those blades sure look polished to me . I wonder if they are going to be a over the counter option ? They sure look awesome

 

It's very difficult to show "metallic" in a photo. The picture may also be CGI.

I agree with Dan though - IMO having the silver metallic portion, as well as the polished areas, gives the wheels much more depth. I like them a lot more this way than the all-polished versions I saw at NAIAS a couple years ago.

Any ways I'm sure that I want them polished. That is what I thought I was ordering originally. How about the show cars? I couldn't tell if there were flaws in those but they sure were nice. Would a place that specializes in selling rims do this ?Ball park figure,how much can I expect to pay??

 

I dunno, they look plenty blingy enough for me.

I was thinking about having mine painted the same color as
the car - Legend Lime. Has anyone done or seen tis done

Just got back from wheel place.They want 165.00 each rim to polish and clearcoat.Don't think I'll be doing it for that.I could get nice new rims for that $$!!

Hey, I'd love to see how they'd look....but $165 ea. is kinda steep. I knew it would be expensive however as I was thinking of refinishing my Probe GT's rims back in the day and it was expensive.

Yep, as per the descriptions in my gallery, I used a stickypod and my little point and shoot digi cam (Minolta Dimage Xg). You have to shoot in low light and make the shutter time extend. there are intricacies that i'm learning but generally it's not too hard. for me, i turn the flash off and it extends the shutter speed automatically since i can't adjust that manually.
