Hey whats up Leo! I dont have a Shaker, but rather a true cowl induction hood which I built by hand.. The blower's cone filter is at the back of the cowl and it helps to keep boost temps much cooler, as well as off boost intake air temps..

The cowl also produces a rather evil sound when you lift off the gas.. Basically when the blower is in a vaccum situation from mid to high rpm, and really evil sound is produced by the air being sucked into the cone filter and re-circulated by the blower.. It sounds awsome..

Anyways, good luck on your shaker project.. I cut my own hole in this hood, and think the shaker should be really easy for you to install yourself.. Giood Luck.. Check my sig for a pic of my car in raw form.. Its not done yet.. I still have some things to do such as paint..

Questions

Questions for those of you with shaker hoods.
  1. How much does it shake at idle and how much while driving?
  2. Any extra noise? Is it pleasant or annoying?
  3. Can you here it sucking the air in?
  4. Does it cause visibility problems?
  5. How do you wash your car? Do you cover the shaker hood?
  6. How do you keep it looking nice??? Armor all???
  7. Is it possible to use the C&L intake and keep the stock air box??
  8. Have you driven with it in the rain??
  9. Has anyone painted there scoop??
  10. On a scale of 1-10 how happy are you with it.
Sorry about all the questions.

Thanks for the compliment......and actually, black was my second choice! A black car with silver stripes looks bada$$ in my opinion.

I post the pix at photobucket.com. Once you do that, it gives you .img extensions that you can just cut and paste into your post. Works great!

The cowl sits 3.5 inches off of the top of the hood, at its highest point.. You can see fine.. The actual cowl is a 5inch cowl but is recessed into the hood 1.5inches..

I have plenty of other pics.. LOL!! But I'll wait to post the final production when its all painted and molded and the black ralley stripes are added.. Along with the chrome mesh grill and dual centered foglights..

Please allow me to introduce the entire thing to you once I have my total vision completed and ready for it to bare witness to the world.. LOL!!!

Too many pics too soon, allows people to draw their own conclusions.. By posting pics in the finished product, my work can be more greatly appreciated and understood.. This mod takes alot of mental effort to pull off.. I had to design from scratch my own intake system so it would be completely functional with the cowl.. This mod is really not for looks, but for boost.. The looks take a back seat to the cowls functionality.. However, the final look of this will be unbelievabley all Mustang Muscle! Thanks for you understanding Leo!!

It shakes at start-up and when you rev it, but no noticeable movement at idle. Moves around on bumpy roads, etc.

2. Any extra noise? Is it pleasant or annoying?
A little, but definitely not annoying.

3. Can you here it sucking the air in?
See answer #2

4. Does it cause visibility problems?
None whatsoever

5. How do you wash your car? Do you cover the shaker hood?
Hand wash and no I don't cover the shaker. It has water management valleys and drain tubes.

6. How do you keep it looking nice??? Armor all???
Zaino Z-16 on trim ring and under hood areas.

7. Is it possible to use the C&L intake and keep the stock air box??
Why would you keep the stock air box? You can use the C & L but I don't think you would want the restrictive factory air box.

8. Have you driven with it in the rain??
Yes no problems whatsoever and it was raining so hard visibility was less than 50ft at 7:00 am

9. Has anyone painted there scoop??
Me no, but a guy on the forum did. Redfire I believe it was.

10. On a scale of 1-10 how happy are you with it.
11

Sorry about all the questions
No problem how do you expect to learn if you don't ask questions?

I figured that would make it an enclosed system forcing the air from the shaker into the intake. Without it the hot air in the engine compartent would be getting sucked in before the air being brought in by the shaker had a chance.

Does that make any sense??

FYI everyone else is welcome to answer my q's as I would like a variety of opnions.

Same as Daryl

2. Any extra noise? Is it pleasant or annoying?
Same as Daryl

3. Can you here it sucking the air in?
For me, no. I don't think it pulls any air in at all. All this system is designed for is to provide 'cooler' air to the filter, nothing more.

4. Does it cause visibility problems?
Same as Daryl

5. How do you wash your car? Do you cover the shaker hood?
Haven't washed her since the Shaker was installed, but I believe Daryl.

6. How do you keep it looking nice??? Armor all???
Same as Daryl

Rain? What's that?

9. Has anyone painted there scoop??
Same as Daryl, but I think it was Torch Red.

10. On a scale of 1-10 how happy are you with it.
12 (Hah!)

Let me remind you that the Shaker is an Appearance Mod, not a Performance one. I think it only adds 5 HP at best.

The factory airbox is not an enclosed system. I've read elsewhere where a guy closed up his airbox opening and only used the Shaker for fresh air. I'm not sure what happened, but I can bet only minimal gains were realized (if any).

I think Daryl meant Redfire, the TMS member, not the color.

Now that's irony.
