Rich, you're a braver man than me.
I posted this picture before. Thought it was a cool idea if you wanted that G.T. 350 look, but weren't brave enough to weather the "poser" comments. I would've probably gone with "TRIBUTE" rather than "CLONE"

That is a nice idea, I had never seen that before. I switched because lots people asked me what a GT300 is? Most Mustang folks at least have heard of a G.T.350.

I emailed the owner about his rocker stripe.
In case anyone is interested, here is the discussion
Thanks -
I actually used a local shop that does race-car leetering and graphics.
Just went to him with a sketch of what I wanted, and he made a new
lower stripe section.
I used http://www.signsbyrobbie.com
Robbie owns vintage Mustangs as well, so he understands what's needed.

You have a very nice looking car. I especially like how you did you
rocker panel with the word "CLONE" in the lower stripe.
May I inquire as to how you had that made?
Thanks
Mark

Loks just fine Rich. I debated about which stripe to use and decided on the GT300 (see avatar), just so I wouldn't have to deal with the comments. Seems like I get em anyway though. One guy already said to me; "they don't make a GT300". To which I replied "no, but I did". Then I said "It's got 300 horse power". So he said "oh, cool". All the many other comments I've had in the last three weeks since installing them have been very positive.
I fall into the "Do what you want it's your car" category, and try to be polite if someone elses car isn't to my taste. The "purist" debate has I'm sure gone on since the first aftermarket part was offered, And amuses me greatly. I love an original classic as much as the next guy, but I'd be willing to bet that 99.9% of enthusiasts cars have SOMETHING on them, no matter how insignificant that didn't come from the factory. As has been said many times and practised extensively by the members of this forum, modding is a big part of what makes these cars fun, and adds to the personal touch we can give our Mustangs. Good driving, Carl

Wait a minute...... There is no such car as a 2005 GT350, correct? So how can anyone call you a poser if no such original ever existed???? Just a thought while I watch paint dry....

Rich,
How long did you debate doing this?
I think it's it silly when I see V6 mustangs with a GT badge so I'm on the fence on this subject in general. Having said that I think you've made a huge improvement! the GT350 looks so much better than the GT300.
I'd keep it on!

When I got my car in May 2005 I had the CDC spoiler waiting and a set of GT300 stripes. After almost 2 years and several mods later I decided to put the G.T.350 stripe on. I thought long and hard about it because I really don't want to try a misrepresent my car to anyone, but I get so many questions on what kind of a Mustang addition it is that I thought "what the heck"!
The nicest compliment that anyone can give me about my car is when they say "it looks so factory and clean".

I've tried several different designs and themes in this area and finally just ran a solid silver stripe across the bottom rocker panel. Seems like the original story on how the GT 350 came about was the distance from one point to another as I recall from another post.
I think you should do whatever you are comfortable with on your car and just do it. Just my thoughts...........
