Here are a few pics of my car getting the stripes. It's actually getting painted now so I will have some updates in a day or so. Since this is an update, I actually saw the car in the "heat chamber" tonight after work. They think it will be done being re-assembled and buffed out so that I can pick it up tomorrow evening. And this just before I leave town for 5 days. I can't believe it.

Anyway, Copley Auto Body did the work and now I can HIGHLY recommend them. Ask for John at 330-666-5010 (near Akron, Ohio) or copleyauto@adelphia.net. The painter that did the work was VERY meticulous and has some work that has been in Rod magazines. The cost for me was around 1300.00 but this was the first they had done with striping and due to the "extra" details that are involved, they said it would probably be normally around 1700.00. So anyway, here are the next to final shots as it's sitting in the oven. Enjoy. By the way, total time in the shop was 6 days. There is even a pic of the temp control on the oven.

It was a tossup between black and white. I decided on white as a recent mag had a pic of a restomod shelby with the super snake stripes in the same colors. I just couldn't get that out of my mind.

Nice car and nice prep pics! I see your not painting the stripe through the rear license plate area. That’s cool, but I want to do mine as vinyl version stripes always skip that area (too many tight corners I guess). You still have a big advantage over me – you have a car to paint!

Here are some more pics before final assemtbly. I pick it up after full assembly which hopefully will be friday after work. The pics are great and they don't do the car justice. I love the stripes and it's a unique production at the moment anyway. By the way, they did taper the front stripe. I think it went from 11 at the front to 12 or 13 at the window. Then it maintained the width the remainder of the way back. I will add a few pics tomorrow when he emails me some more and then again when I get back to town and can take some of the fully assembled unit. I hope you enjoy.

Here are some final pics of the process. They took the bumpers off, taped it all up, mapped out the stripe sizes, painted and clear coated (I believe it was 3 coats). The white is high performance white for the mustang. It was then put in the oven (see above post for temp). I don't know how long it cooked but I was in the oven and it's pretty sticky. They are putting it back together today, they will then buff it out and hopefully I can pick it up tonight. Otherwise I am leaving town tomorrow morning and won't be back till next wednesday. Too long to wait to see it finished. Anyway, I will post the "FINAL" pics of the finished product sometime next week. Hope you have enjoyed the process. At least now you know what's involved with paint and why it's over a grand to do a good job. Remember, if they don't take the bumpers off (it will be cheaper) but the paint won't have gotten around the edges and you know that's just asking for peeling.

See ya all next week.

Looks real good. I think white was definitely the right choice. Curious... why didn't you get them to continue the middle stripe into the license plate area?

They actually called me on that. It turns out that if you look at the license plate area, the way my stripe came down, they just couldn't get it to look straight. The guys that do the two stripe dont really have much to worry about as they are in the middle of the license area. while my stripe is at the ends where it's uneven. I could have had them paint it and it would have been hidden by the license plate bracket but since the plate will cover the area anyway, it seemed best to just stop where we did. That way it was right and no worries behind the plate.
